G-945VWNWTK5 Episode 338: We Talk Movie Costs, Theaters, and the Spider-Man Box Office - Five Minute Warning

Episode 338

Episode 338: We Talk Movie Costs, Theaters, and the Spider-Man Box Office

We assert that Marvel’s recent film and streaming strategy has yielded mixed results, prompting debate about whether the franchise offers more misses than hits. I summarize our extended discussion of how “hits” should be measured — by ubiquity, viewership, and cultural impact — and we dispute whether series like Loki and shows such as Wonder Man qualify. We review specific examples, including Thunderbolts, Fantastic Four, Spider-Man box office success, and the Disney Plus releases, and we examine how corporate economics and streaming metrics informed recent content decisions. I also report a personal update: I underwent surgery and now receive daily infusions and a six‑week antibiotic regimen while recuperating at home. We discuss the rising cost of the moviegoing experience and how that influences consumer choices. Finally, we remind listeners of our live show schedule and invite them to join us on Sundays at 9:00 pm Eastern on Twitch and YouTube.

Don't do that.

Speaker C:

Because if.

Speaker C:

If we say you're wrong now, we're coming at you.

Speaker B:

Exactly.

Speaker C:

You set your.

So I'm going to simply bow out and say, sir, you were right.

Speaker A:

I'm back, y'.

Speaker A:

All.

Speaker A:

And I'm back in the back.

Speaker A:

And I'm still black, y'.

Speaker A:

All.

Speaker A:

And of course, always, always with me is my cousin AG what's happening, y'?

Speaker B:

All?

Speaker B:

How you doing?

Speaker A:

Hey, man, you can go ahead and smile on it, you know.

Speaker A:

That was funny.

Speaker B:

It was something, sir.

Speaker B:

It was something.

Speaker A:

I'll take that.

Speaker B:

I know you will.

Speaker A:

I know you will, because I am not a comedian.

Speaker A:

But if I can get something out of nothing, I'm gonna do so.

Speaker A:

Oh, man.

Speaker A:

How was your week, Ag?

Speaker B:

Actually, the question is, how was your week, sir?

Speaker B:

You have had a lot going on.

Speaker A:

I mean, your boy still here, though, right?

Speaker A:

Here, as you can tell.

Speaker A:

Got my own, you know,.

Speaker B:

I can't.

Speaker A:

Remember what it's called now.

Speaker A:

Pick line in my arm.

Speaker A:

That's right.

Speaker B:

That takes me back to a dark place.

Speaker A:

Ah, man, it's pick line number three for me.

Speaker B:

Oh, man.

Speaker A:

So, I mean, I'm old hat, man.

Speaker A:

I went there, knocked that joint out.

Speaker A:

It didn't even hurt, man.

Speaker B:

We got to keep you out of there, bro.

Speaker B:

I mean, we got to get definitely.

Speaker B:

I mean, is there anything we can do to get that, that hole in your foot healed so you can get away from these infections, bro.

Speaker B:

I mean, this is like the third time.

Speaker A:

Well, that's a very good thing.

Speaker A:

I'll go talk about it later, but I'll go ahead and talk about it now.

Speaker A:

So it's very simple.

Speaker A:

Talk to my doctor.

Speaker A:

Shout out to Dr. Keller.

Speaker A:

He is the man.

Speaker A:

He's done all my surgeries and I'm still here.

Speaker A:

So shout out to him.

Speaker A:

Yo, man.

Speaker A:

So what he was gonna do, he went in, of course, number three had to.

Speaker A:

And then what they did.

Speaker A:

Apparently the hole was small enough.

Speaker A:

He went in, removed the ulcers and sealed up the hole.

Speaker C:

Nice.

Speaker B:

So you're golden now, right?

Speaker A:

I got this pic line there for a reason.

Speaker A:

So I'll be taking antibiotics for about six weeks to make sure that, you know, no infections and like that happen.

Speaker A:

But hopefully after that, they healing process and all that, we'll be good in the hood, baby.

Speaker A:

So I'm super excited for that.

Speaker B:

You and me both.

Speaker A:

There's no one more excited than me, I promise you.

Speaker B:

I hear what you're saying, but I am so happy for you, sir.

Speaker A:

So, so yeah, like what I decided to do, I took some time off from, from the job, you know, so I can lounge and not put mileage on the foot and stuff like that.

Speaker A:

So I'm not, I'm not out doing things, but I do have to go and get my medication done every day.

Speaker A:

It's about an hour a day, so I guess at least I get out the house and see people.

Speaker A:

So I'm cool with that.

Speaker A:

And that place, the setup is interesting to say the least.

Speaker A:

So.

Speaker A:

Yeah, man, like, first of all, I don't wish just upon anybody like infusions and stuff like that.

Speaker A:

I really don't.

Speaker A:

I wish I could do the myself, but apparently, you know, insurance and stuff, they were just like, nah, play, you got to go here.

Speaker A:

Hey, we not.

Speaker A:

You not going to be in the hospital, so you got to go here.

Speaker A:

And I'm just like, that's fair trade off.

Speaker A:

So yeah, they scheduled my next six weeks out.

Speaker A:

You know, I'll go every day, sit in the chair for about an hour and 10 minutes and bring my happy ass home.

Speaker A:

Even when I work, I just gotta adjust my work to the infusions, which I will do.

Speaker A:

So yeah, man, hopefully, hopefully, you know, by time anniversary number number seven comes around, we'll.

Speaker A:

We'll be good to go.

Speaker A:

But until we get there, the only thing that sucks right now is I'm bleeding, I'm kind of bleeding like a stuck pig because it's wrapped up and all.

Speaker A:

But it's.

Speaker A:

You know, it's.

Speaker A:

It's got.

Speaker A:

I assume they stitched it up, but you had to let some blood out, so.

Speaker B:

Cuz you have that draining thing going on though, don't you?

Speaker B:

And there's like a bag that you.

Speaker A:

No, no, not using that.

Speaker A:

No, it just drains out my foot.

Speaker B:

Okay.

Speaker A:

So I'm pretty sure down there, there's a little opening and you know, so for the.

Speaker A:

You know, at least when I see the doctor this week, hopefully.

Speaker A:

Well, not hopefully.

Speaker A:

He'll re.

Speaker A:

Do everything.

Speaker A:

He'll re.

Speaker C:

Like.

Speaker A:

Do everything and stuff like that.

Speaker A:

But yeah, I mean, right now it's all.

Speaker A:

It all wrapped up and stuff.

Speaker A:

I mean, I could open it.

Speaker A:

What kind of fool do you think I am?

Speaker A:

I can't fix that.

Speaker A:

So we gonna wait to go see the doctor do that.

Speaker A:

And that's what I've been doing.

Speaker A:

So.

Speaker A:

Yeah, man, seven toes.

Speaker A:

But we might be out this soon.

Speaker A:

Soon and very soon, you know, so I appreciate all the thought, the T's and P's out there from everybody, but.

Speaker A:

Yeah, man, other.

Speaker A:

There's a lot of Netflix to watch this week, so enjoy, sir, Enjoy.

Speaker A:

I will be doing some of that.

Speaker A:

I mean, I need a vacation, so.

Speaker A:

I mean, this ain't really a vacation vacation, but, you know, it's better than being on my foot all day, that's for sure.

Speaker A:

So yeah, once again, thanks for all the T's and P's and hey, let's.

Speaker A:

Let's get this done now.

Speaker A:

So.

Speaker A:

Talk about Mocho Cowboy.

Speaker A:

You are in all of my.

Speaker A:

My mind at heart, man.

Speaker B:

Bro, that show's good.

Speaker B:

We watched episode today.

Speaker B:

It was nice.

Speaker A:

That.

Speaker A:

That show is sweet.

Speaker A:

Phenomenal.

Speaker A:

You know, I'm gonna be real, man, between Lanners and freaking.

Speaker A:

Oh, what's the other show, Reacher?

Speaker B:

Oh, yeah,.

Speaker A:

Man.

Speaker C:

My.

Speaker A:

My what.

Speaker A:

What is it called?

Speaker B:

My.

Speaker A:

My.

Speaker A:

Yo, man, I can't be waiting.

Speaker A:

They just.

Speaker A:

They should just drop this and be done with it.

Speaker A:

I'm a fan of making it a rule to drop all the episodes at one time.

Speaker B:

There's only one Netflix, sir.

Speaker A:

No, I mean Netflix.

Speaker A:

All of them.

Speaker A:

They're just forced to drop everything.

Speaker B:

No, everybody doesn't do that because Netflix is the only.

Speaker B:

Only streaming service that drops the entire season at once.

Speaker B:

Everybody else is like, they might do a handful, but they like one a week, so.

Speaker A:

Well, I think I. I think it.

Speaker A:

I think they should make them drop them all.

Speaker B:

I hear what you're saying, but you.

Speaker A:

Know, because you know this Lantern.

Speaker B:

Well, you could do what Moby does and just wait till it's over and then watch all time.

Speaker A:

So I can watch every, so I can read all the awesome st about.

Speaker A:

No, I ain't got that kind of time, okay?

Speaker A:

I, I, I'd rather sit there and, and just struggle.

Speaker B:

Understood.

Speaker A:

Cuz I'm gonna watch it like four times before the next one comes on to see if I miss some.

Speaker A:

Like right now it's on absolutely right now.

Speaker A:

But that's what DVR is for.

Speaker A:

Even though it's gonna come on like all night and all week.

Speaker A:

There's nothing like a dvr, baby.

Speaker A:

Nothing like a dvr.

Speaker A:

So yeah, man, I'm, I'm excited for that Reacher on Wednesdays, man, that shit's getting good.

Speaker A:

Yeah, it's, it's insanity.

Speaker A:

TV's insanity.

Speaker A:

That's why I gotta go back to work.

Speaker A:

I mean, I lost 11 pounds, man.

Speaker A:

I'm starting to work out tomorrow a little bit upper body stuff.

Speaker A:

Just because if I sit here for another week and not be moving for real, which I'm not, I'm gonna gain those 11 pounds back.

Speaker A:

I ain't trying to do that.

Speaker A:

So, you know, is what it is.

Speaker A:

But yeah, man, yeah.

Speaker A:

Lanterns.

Speaker A:

Lanterns.

Speaker A:

That might be the greatest DC they've ever come up with.

Speaker A:

And that's saying something because I like Titan.

Speaker A:

I love Titans and this is way better than Titans.

Speaker A:

So too bad Moby don't watch it.

Speaker A:

Sucks to be him.

Speaker B:

I don't think it does.

Speaker B:

He's, he's let us know inequivocally that DC is not his bag.

Speaker A:

Well, here's a funny thing though.

Speaker A:

He won't tell you, but I'm going to tell you real quick, cuz he's not on.

Speaker A:

So he did confess that he watched the first season of Flash and he stopped watching it.

Speaker B:

Like the TV show.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

Well, the first season was not that good.

Speaker A:

It wasn't just, it was okay.

Speaker A:

It was a lot of character development.

Speaker A:

It was like the first season of Mar Marvel's Agent Shield.

Speaker A:

Like you just gotta, you gotta keep pushing.

Speaker A:

And so like, because I was watching the third season this weekend because the third season of Flash is phenomenal and stuff.

Speaker A:

And so, you know, I'll probably.

Speaker A:

The fourth season's trash, so I'll probably watch start watching the fifth season tomorrow.

Speaker A:

Yeah, it came out with eight seasons, man.

Speaker A:

Look, man, you win some and you lose something.

Speaker A:

It's just what it is.

Speaker A:

And, and the four season Flash is just trash.

Speaker A:

So like in my Opinion.

Speaker A:

I like the show.

Speaker A:

I just thought the season four was just trash, so.

Speaker A:

So, yeah, man, I'm just like, you know, I watched some of that.

Speaker A:

You know, I have not watched a new Supergirl movie.

Speaker A:

I'm waiting for that to come on hbo, Max, because I heard that was absolutely horrible.

Speaker A:

And I refuse to give money.

Speaker A:

Now, what I probably will do, I will probably sneak out away from the house and go see Spider man one afternoon.

Speaker A:

Because now you can go to Mope Theater with recliners and shit, so I can just prop my foot up and be like, what's up?

Speaker A:

And I could be the only one up in there and be like, holy shit, this is awesome.

Speaker A:

Kids are in school.

Speaker A:

Fuck, yes.

Speaker A:

Greatest time ever.

Speaker B:

So I just will warn you, and this is the bone I have to pick.

Speaker B:

And, you know, if it's not an important movie, I will not go back.

Speaker B:

But movie, a moviegoing experience has gotten way out of whack financially.

Speaker B:

Yeah, I spent $80, bro.

Speaker A:

Now, I wouldn't have done that because.

Speaker B:

Tickets were $40 and the snacks were.

Speaker B:

I went to City Center.

Speaker B:

Tickets are expensive, man.

Speaker B:

I was like, go to Regal, man.

Speaker B:

Look, Lauren got tickets in the car, and I was.

Speaker B:

She told me what it was.

Speaker B:

She's like, you sure you want to do it?

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

But, oh, my goodness, what happened?

Speaker B:

I mean, man, $25 a ticket, bro.

Speaker B:

I'm like, for real, y'?

Speaker B:

All.

Speaker A:

But okay, 25 ticket.

Speaker A:

Yeah, they got your ass.

Speaker A:

I ain't paying that much.

Speaker B:

Well, you get to go to the matinee, but at the same time, it doesn't matter.

Speaker B:

It's like, ticket.

Speaker B:

Movie tickets are way out of line.

Speaker B:

I'm like, all right, bro.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

No wonder.

Speaker B:

Almost a billion dollars.

Speaker A:

Hey, 2 billion.

Speaker A:

It's over 2 billion.

Speaker B:

No, I mean, that first weekend.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

So I figured, you know, they got enough money for my ass.

Speaker A:

I'll check out the.

Speaker A:

The 10 matinee and $10 mat.

Speaker B:

I remember when the mat name was $5, baby.

Speaker A:

Yeah, yeah.

Speaker A:

Oh, well, that's what it is, man.

Speaker B:

Okay.

Speaker A:

Yeah, but you gotta get your bag of popcorn and your soft drink.

Speaker B:

See, that's what you need.

Speaker B:

That's what you need.

Speaker B:

A woman that's got a big purse.

Speaker B:

Because what they charging for snacks?

Speaker B:

It's outrageous.

Speaker B:

I spent 49 at the snack bar, bro.

Speaker A:

God damn.

Speaker A:

What'd you get?

Speaker B:

That's my whole point.

Speaker B:

But all I got was nachos.

Speaker B:

I see two candies, like M and M's and some other stuff and two drinks.

Speaker B:

It was.

Speaker B:

There's no way in the world.

Speaker B:

It should have cost 50 bucks, but it did.

Speaker B:

And I was just like, never again.

Speaker B:

Never again.

Speaker A:

Mogo Cabba asked how much were the tickets versus the fees?

Speaker B:

The fees might have had the feast might have had something to do with it, but not that much.

Speaker B:

Yeah, I mean, the bottom line is movie tickets are really expensive.

Speaker B:

And this is not the way to gain back customers from streaming.

Speaker B:

Because I promise you, if it wasn't Spider Man, I'd have waited six weeks and it had been there.

Speaker B:

No way, bro.

Speaker B:

It was.

Speaker B:

It was really expensive.

Speaker A:

Well, see, but see, that's the thing, right?

Speaker A:

That's.

Speaker A:

I'll give.

Speaker A:

I will give.

Speaker A:

I know.

Speaker A:

A couple weeks ago, we had a conversation about Marvel.

Speaker A:

I'm gonna give them credit now because that's why they come out with one movie a quarter.

Speaker A:

Hell, it's been, what, a year since they had a movie?

Speaker C:

For real.

Speaker A:

I mean, Fantastic Four is our last movie.

Speaker A:

That was last year.

Speaker A:

So it's like, you know, they'll come out one movie in December, then they will come out with a movie in May.

Speaker A:

And, you know, at least they spacing this out so people can, you know, earn it, save their money and shit.

Speaker A:

So shout out to Marvel for thinking about us, because remember, he used to put out like, six movies a year, and that shit used to be hella expensive.

Speaker A:

Well, both of them were bad.

Speaker B:

They had a lot to say.

Speaker B:

They don't have that much to say right now, honestly.

Speaker B:

They don't.

Speaker A:

I. I think they're just choosing what to say.

Speaker B:

Okay, you can characterize it any way you want to.

Speaker B:

I don't see, other than Doom.

Speaker B:

What's up, Mo?

Speaker B:

Other than Doom, it's like, what else they got to say?

Speaker B:

I mean, they refuse to put a black man on the screen because I've been waiting for Blade for, like, five years.

Speaker B:

So it's like.

Speaker B:

I mean, they just.

Speaker B:

Man, look, man, they don't have a lot to say right now.

Speaker A:

I'm actually happy that they didn't come out with a new Blade movie, because I heard they cancel it.

Speaker A:

I'm really happy, man, because I'll be real.

Speaker A:

I was fine with Trinity.

Speaker A:

I was fine with Blade.

Speaker A:

Hell, I was fine with all three of them.

Speaker A:

And sometimes you just don't need to remake, like.

Speaker A:

And I'm fine with that retconning or whatever, but you don't need to remake every damn thing.

Speaker A:

And I mean, look, man, they told.

Speaker C:

Us, and Disney is counting on you.

Speaker A:

I mean, of course Disney's counting on me, but, like, you know, at least they told Us, Black Panther was coming out in two years, so, I mean, there's that.

Speaker A:

I mean, good, better and different.

Speaker A:

Like, I hear you, man.

Speaker C:

As long as they give us one, we should.

Speaker C:

We're happy.

Speaker B:

Yeah, true.

Speaker A:

I just think.

Speaker A:

I. I don't know, man.

Speaker A:

I think Blade coming out with a movie with Blade would have probably been really dope.

Speaker A:

But, yeah, I, I'd rather see that on Disney.

Speaker A:

Plus, I'm not gonna front.

Speaker C:

Can I ask, Ag, what were you addressing?

Speaker C:

Are you talking about Disney's lack of color recently or Marvel's lack of color recently?

Speaker B:

No, I said they didn't have a lot to say.

Speaker B:

That's why they have one movie.

Speaker B:

They don't have a lot to say.

Speaker B:

So it's like, because Ruben was like that they were trying to help us out.

Speaker B:

Help us out meaning help the consumer.

Speaker B:

And I was like, I disagree.

Speaker B:

Marvel just doesn't have a lot to say.

Speaker B:

And from, especially from a movie standpoint, because they really been getting off on the, the television, you know, arm of their company because I'm halfway excited about Vision.

Speaker B:

So it's like you got, you got the, you got the movies, you have the tv.

Speaker B:

You know, you can sell a better story with the tv.

Speaker B:

You can, you can make it cheaper than a movie.

Speaker B:

Still, I mean, that's not always going to be the case, I'm sure.

Speaker B:

But right, right now you can, you know, $10 million an episode, $100 million of the season right now for that type of movie.

Speaker B:

That's, that's kind of a bargain.

Speaker B:

So I don't feel like Marvel's trying to do anything for us.

Speaker B:

They just don't have a lot to say.

Speaker B:

They're rehashing a lot of stuff.

Speaker B:

Now, don't get me wrong, it's really cool to see they do it well, but it's not like they have a lot of new ideas.

Speaker B:

Is like Marvel's been around since before I was born, and there's so much to draw on, and they just picked a handful of characters and they ran it in the ground as far as I'm concerned with respect to what we are talking about.

Speaker B:

Now, don't get me wrong, like I said, anything they come out with, I'm watching.

Speaker B:

But it's not like they're picking new characters that I know are there.

Speaker B:

They have the ones that we're all accustomed to, and they've done a very good job.

Speaker B:

But now at this point, it's like, how many Spider mans can you.

Speaker B:

You do?

Speaker A:

You could do play Spider Man.

Speaker B:

I mean, I hear what you're saying, but it's still Spider Man.

Speaker A:

Well, here.

Speaker A:

So here's what I thought.

Speaker A:

First of all, to go back to the, the, the Vision Quest thing.

Speaker A:

It's about goddamn time they finish that, man.

Speaker A:

Like, we've been waiting six years for that to be finished.

Speaker A:

Like, I'm excited just to get some.

Speaker A:

Just for the.

Speaker A:

To be done, like, very, very simple for me.

Speaker A:

Like, that's right.

Speaker A:

I am with that now.

Speaker A:

I think that.

Speaker A:

I hear you.

Speaker A:

As far as they don't have a lot to say.

Speaker A:

I just think that, you know, unfortunately, they made some bad calls in the past.

Speaker A:

So I think Disney's getting a little frugal with the cash.

Speaker A:

So, like, I think the fact that calls.

Speaker C:

Or did they just do it?

Speaker C:

Most corporations do and basically been to capitalism.

Speaker A:

Well, I, I think that as much as I liked Moon Knight, if you were gonna do anything else with them, like, you could have left him.

Speaker A:

Like, I, I thought the series was good.

Speaker A:

But I mean, in the grand scheme of everything, I mean, what I'm trying.

Speaker B:

To agree with that.

Speaker A:

What do we get out of it?

Speaker A:

Not much, I think.

Speaker C:

I think you're missing the question to ask.

Speaker C:

Like, they didn't make it because they had a plan.

Speaker C:

They made it because they got a new streaming service, and the streaming service asked them to just make content.

Speaker C:

So they were literally just throwing ideas out half baked.

Speaker C:

Because the great thing about Marvel in the beginning was that they had a plan.

Speaker C:

Like the whole Iron man infinity that was all planned out years in advance.

Speaker C:

They, they really leaned in on, hey, this is our plan.

Speaker C:

This is how we're going to get there.

Speaker C:

And then all of a sudden, they had a streaming service, and it was like, hey, we need content to get people to get on the streaming service.

Speaker C:

Just give us stuff.

Speaker C:

So they spent a couple years literally just throwing an echo at us, throwing, like, not saying the ease of things that.

Speaker C:

That couldn't have succeeded, but they weren't going to succeed with the no plan that they had.

Speaker C:

And that's why most people kind of revolted.

Speaker C:

So I guess you can say they're trying to give us something back by saying, hey, we're going to minimize it and try to get back to quality.

Speaker C:

But really, capitalism told them to do that because they were spending more money than they were bringing in with the streamers.

Speaker C:

I promise you, if people would have just tuned in, then they would be throwing a whole bunch of other stuff out there that they'd give us one season of and never do anything with again if the money was right.

Speaker C:

But it wasn't.

Speaker A:

I don't disagree with that statement, but I. I also.

Speaker A:

I challenge a little bit of it because it's hard.

Speaker A:

I don't think they just didn't have a plan.

Speaker A:

I just think the plan just didn't execute properly.

Speaker A:

They didn't get out of the plan what they thought the player was going to give.

Speaker A:

And I think that's where they decided to scrap a lot of it.

Speaker C:

What do you think the plan was, do you think, plan for, like, future endeavors or do you think the plan was, if it makes money, we'll make another season?

Speaker A:

I think that the plan was just like the other plan.

Speaker A:

I think the Multiverse Saga plan was just.

Speaker A:

It didn't work.

Speaker A:

It worked, but it got no eyes.

Speaker A:

And that's the problem.

Speaker A:

You know, even though you put out the stuff in the Multiverse Saga, the motor.

Speaker A:

Yeah, the Multiverse Saga.

Speaker A:

I mean, it just did.

Speaker A:

As far as people watching it, it just didn't do well.

Speaker A:

I mean, you couldn't.

Speaker A:

You can't tell me where it ended, but you could tell.

Speaker A:

I could tell you where it started, but.

Speaker A:

And that's the whole thing, right?

Speaker A:

Like, and then topple that with a couple of.

Speaker A:

Even though Thunderbolts was a great movie.

Speaker A:

A great movie, the problem is that it didn't make no money.

Speaker A:

And then Fantastic Four basically bombed.

Speaker A:

I mean, that was it.

Speaker B:

I thought it did well.

Speaker B:

It didn't do well.

Speaker B:

No, not at all.

Speaker B:

Okay.

Speaker A:

That made less than Thunderbolts.

Speaker A:

Thunderbolts, I want to say, made somewhere around like 600, 000.

Speaker A:

And Fantastic Four made like 550.

Speaker A:

And I. I don't even think Fantastic Four broke even.

Speaker A:

So, like, yeah, it.

Speaker A:

You know, and the movies, like I said, Thunderbolt's great movie for what it was.

Speaker A:

Fantastic Four, I guess the great intro movie.

Speaker C:

Is it.

Speaker A:

I. Yeah, that's.

Speaker A:

Yeah, with a question mark.

Speaker A:

Like, I could have.

Speaker A:

I don't know, man.

Speaker A:

I. I thought I understood what they did and why they did it.

Speaker A:

I just wasn't a fan of the fact that they did it.

Speaker A:

But they didn't have a choice because you can't put the Fantastic Four in the current world.

Speaker A:

So you had to put them on their own world.

Speaker A:

So now that's how the, you know, all the encourages and it's just, I.

Speaker B:

Thought they did that, that to kind of set us up for Dune, for people who were confused, like me.

Speaker B:

Like, Robert Downey Jr's playing Doom.

Speaker B:

How's he do that?

Speaker B:

Well, Fantastic Four is not in this universe.

Speaker B:

That's how he did It.

Speaker A:

It did and it does.

Speaker A:

But the movie itself wasn't that good.

Speaker B:

Oh, okay, okay.

Speaker A:

I. I just thought the movie was that good.

Speaker A:

I thought.

Speaker A:

I mean, Moby and I have talked about a couple times.

Speaker A:

You know, they.

Speaker A:

They.

Speaker A:

They suffer from what?

Speaker A:

Justice League suffer from a bad villain.

Speaker A:

Instead of this time, instead of getting the D minus list villain that they made up in dc.

Speaker A:

I mean, you got dark sides.

Speaker A:

Illegitimate third kid.

Speaker A:

Who the.

Speaker A:

That guy was.

Speaker A:

Nobody knows, trash.

Speaker A:

Half the Justice League.

Speaker A:

And the Was.

Speaker A:

Sorry.

Speaker A:

When Superman came about.

Speaker A:

And then Fantastic Four went to the furthest extremes and got Galactus, who eats planets, and somehow they made him shrink to 10ft tall and they trapped him.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker C:

Is.

Speaker A:

Yeah, yeah.

Speaker A:

Just me talking about it makes me sick.

Speaker B:

Like, okay.

Speaker A:

I mean, because, I mean, look, and this is one of those times as a comic book guy.

Speaker A:

I'll say, this time, I'm being a comic book guy.

Speaker A:

It took the X Men, the Avengers, the Fantastic Four, Four, Nova, and a whole bunch of other just to slow this down in the comic books, and four people stopped him by making him shrink to 10ft tall.

Speaker A:

Nick, man, missed me with all that.

Speaker A:

This eats planets, bro.

Speaker A:

Like, yeah, it was just a bad.

Speaker A:

It was a bad written movie.

Speaker A:

It was a bad plot.

Speaker A:

I understand they had to set some up, but damn it, you could have gave us the Frightful Four and set some up.

Speaker A:

You could have did better.

Speaker A:

That's all I'm saying.

Speaker C:

I think.

Speaker C:

I think you're kind of saying what I'm saying.

Speaker C:

You're just not grasping, like, it was a capitalism move because they didn't have a plan.

Speaker C:

It was because they didn't know they were going to get the rights to the characters eventually.

Speaker C:

So the first phase, the first couple phase of the Marvel movies that we all praise was because they knew what characters they had, and they built out a plan to build on.

Speaker C:

And then all of a sudden, they acquire Fox.

Speaker C:

So you get X Men and you get Fantastic Four.

Speaker C:

They weren't in the plant, so but they had them and they wanted to monetize it.

Speaker C:

So we got to put some out and we got to make them fit our world because they're generally cash cows.

Speaker C:

So they did it.

Speaker C:

Now the consumer, you and a lot of other people looked at it and go, hey, this ain't executed as well as the stuff y' all were doing before.

Speaker C:

We don't like this.

Speaker C:

So then Marvel comes back and says, hey, we're gonna slow down on dropping so much content.

Speaker C:

We're gonna kind of dial it back.

Speaker C:

And then they're Gonna say, hey, it's money.

Speaker C:

Yeah, it is money.

Speaker C:

Because they were investing more money than they were getting back from it.

Speaker C:

I promise you, if these things would have been box office hits, they'd still be given, they'd still be giving us the same formula of half baked ideas, but it'd be profitable.

Speaker C:

So you, I'm not disagreeing with you.

Speaker C:

I'm actually saying all the criticism you had is basically because Marvel was like, yo, we got to make money and we didn't plan this out.

Speaker C:

So they're slowing down to try to plan it out now.

Speaker C:

So I'm kind of trying to give them some grace with the plan because I'm like, all right, you had to dial it back so you could actually get your back together.

Speaker C:

But at the end of the day, man, like they not.

Speaker C:

They don't care about your approval, they care about your dollar, man.

Speaker C:

Like, nobody cares that you critically acclaim.

Speaker C:

Don't like a movie.

Speaker C:

They're like, hey, did it make a couple billion?

Speaker C:

Cool, we'll do that.

Speaker A:

Well, yeah.

Speaker A:

And they didn't.

Speaker A:

And you know, but I will say, like, some of the stuff they came out with on Disney plus was really good.

Speaker A:

Like Wonder man, really good.

Speaker C:

Cancel.

Speaker A:

Yep.

Speaker B:

Heard a lot of good things.

Speaker C:

It still got canceled and I'm glad you brought that up.

Speaker C:

Critically acclaimed.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker C:

Great.

Speaker C:

Did not make money.

Speaker C:

So they said it well.

Speaker A:

So I don't know how much money they make on Disney plus stuff.

Speaker C:

They make money based on ratings.

Speaker C:

So if it doesn't get a lot of ratings, they're not going to do it again.

Speaker C:

And it didn't get a lot of views.

Speaker C:

Although, yeah, that watched it.

Speaker C:

Love it for the most part.

Speaker C:

That's the consensus of it.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker C:

I think watch it.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

And I think that was the problem right.

Speaker A:

When it's all said and done, like, because it wasn't wrapped up in all of the everything else, but as a standalone was pretty awesome.

Speaker A:

Knock on the front and you're right.

Speaker A:

Those who loved it or those who watched it loved it enough.

Speaker A:

Eyes just didn't get on it.

Speaker A:

And, and you know, in like five years we'll be talking about how that show was critically acclaimed and everybody's like, oh man, I wish I watched this five years ago.

Speaker A:

Yeah, so does Marvel, dumbasses.

Speaker A:

But you know, is what it is.

Speaker A:

Like, I agree.

Speaker A:

The plan.

Speaker A:

I think they had a plan.

Speaker A:

Did they didn't.

Speaker A:

Then they do this whole doomsday thing.

Speaker A:

Seems like it's gonna work, it's gonna go to Secret wars.

Speaker A:

But when it's all Said and done.

Speaker A:

Yes.

Speaker C:

Do you think Marvel believed in some of the projects that they dropped fully?

Speaker C:

Because there is actually a consensus out there, and I'm not conspiracy theory person,.

Speaker A:

But it sounds like.

Speaker C:

No, I'm not.

Speaker C:

I'm not basing it on a conspiracy.

Speaker C:

I'm gonna base it on, like, what happened.

Speaker C:

All the projects that they felt good about, they released differently.

Speaker C:

So all the projects that they really, really felt good about, they dropped it one episode at a time.

Speaker C:

All the stuff that didn't really do too well, ratings wise, they kind of dropped all at one time.

Speaker C:

So it was like, did they know their project was.

Speaker C:

The only thing that I'll say that they dropped week at a time that truly bombed, like, truly bombed, was that damn Nick Fury.

Speaker C:

And I I.

Speaker C:

That secret.

Speaker B:

That is awful.

Speaker B:

Yeah, it took me.

Speaker B:

It was like.

Speaker B:

Lauren and I watched it and we had.

Speaker B:

It's one of those ones where we really.

Speaker B:

We were watching it in spite of itself because we just wanted to complete it.

Speaker A:

He is never letting that go.

Speaker B:

Well, he shouldn't.

Speaker B:

Because it wasn't good.

Speaker B:

It wasn't good.

Speaker A:

I couldn't get past the first episode.

Speaker B:

Well, I'm glad for you because I promise you, I watched all 10 and it was like, okay.

Speaker A:

And I wanted to watch it.

Speaker A:

The first episode was just so bad.

Speaker B:

It never got better.

Speaker C:

Wanted to be good because it's such a good story.

Speaker B:

Well, it could be.

Speaker C:

It's such a good story.

Speaker C:

It could have been awesome.

Speaker A:

They could have done more with it.

Speaker A:

And they did.

Speaker C:

So what I'm saying is, like, most of the projects that they kind of dropped recently, it's basically.

Speaker C:

It's basically recently, all the products that they dropped all at a time, coincidentally just didn't come back.

Speaker C:

And I don't think they did it on purpose.

Speaker C:

What I'm saying is I think if they feel good about something, they give the slow burn.

Speaker C:

If they don't feel good about it, they're like, hey, let's just drop it.

Speaker A:

So this is what I think about that, because I think that's a very good point.

Speaker A:

I think certain things, they drop like that because this was too late.

Speaker A:

It came out too late.

Speaker A:

It should have been six months ago.

Speaker A:

And they just said it.

Speaker A:

I think Wonder Man.

Speaker A:

Because if I'm correct, they did drop all those at one time.

Speaker C:

Azawakanda, I think they dropped all that.

Speaker A:

I haven't even seen that.

Speaker A:

Like, there's.

Speaker A:

I'm sorry, there's just no want for me to see that.

Speaker A:

I think it should be because it's a Cartoon, right?

Speaker A:

Yeah, in the animated.

Speaker A:

Yeah, but there's still no want for me to see that.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

Like Wonder man, it took me a while.

Speaker A:

It took me a while to get through it, but once I got through, I was very happy.

Speaker C:

I feel like the Oswald kind of thing was like that with me.

Speaker C:

Like, at first I was like, man, what are these stories that they're telling?

Speaker C:

What is it building to?

Speaker C:

And then when it ended up, they literally made it build up to the.

Speaker C:

The Black Panther pathos that we had from the first movie.

Speaker C:

And I'm like, oh, this makes sense now.

Speaker C:

Like, ah, they really did a good build up to it now.

Speaker C:

It was an unnecessary story.

Speaker C:

So it's not like you not seeing it takes anything away from it.

Speaker C:

But yeah, watched it.

Speaker C:

The payoff was like, oh, okay.

Speaker C:

So that's how we got to this place.

Speaker A:

I think they did that primarily because the second Black Panther movie was not that good.

Speaker B:

Good.

Speaker A:

Really?

Speaker A:

I might.

Speaker A:

I. I didn't think it was that good.

Speaker A:

I thought it was okay.

Speaker A:

I didn't think it was that good.

Speaker A:

I go see it in a movie theater.

Speaker C:

Like, I disagree with it not being good.

Speaker C:

I don't.

Speaker C:

I think they had to really rework it a lot because of, you know, circumstances.

Speaker C:

So I think it was okay.

Speaker A:

I. I just say it was bad.

Speaker A:

I think they tried.

Speaker C:

I think they made a little too much of a.

Speaker C:

And this is going to sound terrible.

Speaker C:

I think they made it a much of a tribute at first.

Speaker C:

Like, the first 30, 45 minutes feels a little too much like a tribute movie to the actual real life person who played the character.

Speaker C:

And which is the reason a lot of people love it because they're like, oh, man, they honored him so well.

Speaker C:

But I think people who went there just looking for like, hey, where's this story going?

Speaker C:

Might have been like, hey, man, that was like, what.

Speaker C:

What was this first 40 minutes of the movie for?

Speaker A:

I, as much as I was elated about the Submariner, I became unre elated about the Submariner.

Speaker A:

Like, yeah, yeah, at first it was cool, and then it became not cool.

Speaker A:

It.

Speaker A:

I mean, the Shuri part, whatever, honestly, I didn't care about her character.

Speaker A:

I still don't.

Speaker A:

So I think that's a problem.

Speaker C:

But I think they actually know that.

Speaker C:

I think they actually knew going in because basically, basically how she was built from the first movie, you weren't supposed to have super investment in her.

Speaker C:

So then when you have to pivot to the second movie, it's like, all right, we gotta get everybody hype about a Character that we didn't set up for anybody to get hype about.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker C:

I mean, I think he.

Speaker C:

I think they kind of did the most of what they had, man.

Speaker C:

Like, you know, it sounds bad to say it.

Speaker C:

It may be disrespectful to the people who are part of it, but it was like, yo, man, these are the leftovers they had, man.

Speaker C:

And they made the quiche that they could do.

Speaker C:

Like, and it still was edible to me.

Speaker C:

Like, it was not awful.

Speaker C:

I didn't leave the movie theater going, man, this is just terrible.

Speaker C:

I was like, nah, this is.

Speaker B:

This is good.

Speaker C:

I. I enjoyed it.

Speaker C:

I. I was entertained.

Speaker A:

I don't know.

Speaker A:

I. I think they went, too.

Speaker A:

I think I understand you had to get Shuri that there, but damn.

Speaker A:

Her brother died, obviously, outside comics, but whatever.

Speaker A:

Then you kill a mama, too.

Speaker A:

Like, I. I was.

Speaker A:

I.

Speaker C:

Like, you had to give her a character arc, though, man.

Speaker A:

Apparently.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker C:

Brother.

Speaker C:

Brother.

Speaker A:

I know.

Speaker C:

I mean, the thing I was really more disappointed was.

Speaker C:

Was like, oh, man, you finalized the whole Michael B. Jordan being dead.

Speaker C:

Because I. I tried to hold out.

Speaker A:

I know, right?

Speaker C:

That, like.

Speaker B:

But they stabbed him in the ch.

Speaker A:

Yeah, but you never saw him die.

Speaker C:

Die.

Speaker C:

You know what I'm saying?

Speaker C:

I was just like, hey, we didn't see him die.

Speaker A:

We saw him.

Speaker C:

We had to assume he died.

Speaker C:

And because they didn't necessarily clarify within that movie, you left.

Speaker A:

He did not.

Speaker A:

That's right.

Speaker C:

Left room for him to, like, be, you know, still a part of it.

Speaker C:

And I don't give a.

Speaker C:

What nobody says, yes, terrible, awesome.

Speaker C:

Michael B. Jordan is the best part.

Speaker B:

Of the first movie 100, because that's a great villain, but I don't think he could carry the movie without his antithesis.

Speaker B:

He's got to have somebody that's good.

Speaker B:

Here's the thing.

Speaker C:

But that's why I didn't want him to be dead, because, like, oh, okay.

Speaker C:

Like, they still could have done stuff with his character.

Speaker B:

Yeah, yeah, they should.

Speaker B:

They should have never put him in other characters.

Speaker B:

Right.

Speaker B:

Because I feel like they never should have put him in position to be killed to start with.

Speaker B:

But the way they.

Speaker B:

They positioned the two of them.

Speaker B:

Somebody had to die.

Speaker C:

But thing.

Speaker C:

I don't know if somebody had to die.

Speaker C:

I think they just needed to finish.

Speaker B:

The way it did.

Speaker C:

And I think the fact that they didn't clarify that he was dead or make it, like, really be known.

Speaker C:

The first one, I think they were like, hey, man, we got to hold this on the back burner just in case.

Speaker C:

And then the Second, you know, once Chad dies is like, all right, man.

Speaker C:

We got to figure out how we can throw important character to try to help Bill.

Speaker C:

Sure.

Speaker C:

So, like, I get it, but it was just like, oh, the way you put him in is like, yeah, yeah.

Speaker A:

I was pissed off about that.

Speaker C:

A good character.

Speaker C:

Once again, villains make the movie.

Speaker C:

Like, yeah, villains make the movie.

Speaker A:

And I.

Speaker A:

And I thought.

Speaker A:

I thought the submariner was quite blah.

Speaker A:

Like, I understand.

Speaker C:

I think because they were too busy building Shuri's arc that you didn't get to actually build any of his arc.

Speaker C:

A lot of his art they had to do real quick with clips of like, hey, this is what.

Speaker C:

He was a kid.

Speaker C:

Hey, this is how he got here.

Speaker C:

Hey, now we're here.

Speaker C:

And it's like, whoa, we didn't.

Speaker C:

This one really fleshed out that well because, like, man, we.

Speaker C:

We can't flesh his character out and make you try to care about this other character that we had no intentions of you caring about.

Speaker A:

That's very true, but.

Speaker A:

Shout out.

Speaker A:

Hey, man.

Speaker A:

Shout out to Marvel, man.

Speaker A:

Because they.

Speaker A:

They pull some from the.

Speaker A:

The.

Speaker A:

The cartoon from him.

Speaker A:

So I gave them props for that.

Speaker A:

I was like, oh, damn.

Speaker A:

Because what was it?

Speaker A:

The.

Speaker A:

What was it called?

Speaker A:

Use.

Speaker A:

They did it for the Christmas joint.

Speaker A:

Every Christmas, they would do it.

Speaker A:

I can't remember the name of it.

Speaker A:

When they would get the heroes together from different universes and, like, Captain Carter and all that that.

Speaker C:

You lost me.

Speaker A:

What?

Speaker A:

They would do every they.

Speaker A:

The animated stuff that they did every that.

Speaker A:

Like, three years in a row.

Speaker C:

Like the oneoff.

Speaker C:

Like where they did the Guardians of the Galaxy one?

Speaker A:

No, no, like, the one where it was, like, eight episodes.

Speaker C:

You mean the what if?

Speaker A:

Yeah, the what if stuff.

Speaker C:

Like the way you just described that was, like, weird.

Speaker C:

How do we.

Speaker A:

Yeah, but if you notice this, the Submariner's origin came from one of the what if stories in the cartoon, which I thought was actually brilliant.

Speaker A:

Like, though.

Speaker A:

Because the woman who was blue and the what if story where she was blue and she had the powers, that was his mom.

Speaker C:

I. I get that, but.

Speaker A:

But I thought it was brilliant that they did that.

Speaker C:

What they've been trying to get away from, like, because they were like, hey, man, making these, you know, Disney plus things, pivotal watching for the movies.

Speaker A:

Is it good?

Speaker C:

I thought they were trying to get away from it.

Speaker C:

Now.

Speaker C:

I personally like it when it all entertains, but I get it.

Speaker C:

They're like, hey, it has been successful, so we're not doing it.

Speaker A:

I mean, I don't know what that term Successful is.

Speaker A:

But I get it.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

But yeah, back to the original thing.

Speaker A:

I mean, yeah, man, they had a bunch of misses.

Speaker A:

They did have a.

Speaker A:

They did have some hits, but they had a bunch of misses and now they're trying to catch.

Speaker C:

They had more misses than hits.

Speaker C:

And that's the problem.

Speaker A:

And I mean.

Speaker A:

And I'm not going to disagree there, but I am going to say that they did have some hits, and I.

Speaker C:

Don't think anybody will dispute that.

Speaker C:

But I.

Speaker C:

Well, yeah, I think it's about somebody.

Speaker C:

What?

Speaker A:

Yeah, I think it's about even.

Speaker C:

I think you have a very poor recollection on the series and that might be a good thing.

Speaker C:

That's because.

Speaker C:

Because I think you probably don't even acknowledge in your memory bank the misses.

Speaker C:

Yeah, dude, there are probably some misses that you don't even remember for real.

Speaker A:

Okay.

Speaker A:

I mean, effort.

Speaker A:

Let's do it.

Speaker C:

So I'm just.

Speaker C:

I'm like, what are the hits?

Speaker A:

Like that.

Speaker C:

That's.

Speaker C:

I think that's important.

Speaker C:

Like what.

Speaker C:

What are the things that you consider the hits?

Speaker A:

So I thought Falcon and Winter Soldier was a hit.

Speaker C:

Okay.

Speaker A:

I thought.

Speaker C:

I'm not going to dispute you on that.

Speaker A:

I thought the whole hits.

Speaker A:

I thought the whole ju.

Speaker A:

Division is a hit.

Speaker A:

The first one, the Agatha all along was a hit.

Speaker A:

And this Vision quest is going to be a hit.

Speaker A:

I'm just mad it took him six years to finish it.

Speaker C:

I like how you already predetermined it's going to be a hit.

Speaker A:

Hit.

Speaker A:

And you.

Speaker A:

The trailer.

Speaker A:

Yo, I love the trailer.

Speaker C:

The trailer again, I. I get it.

Speaker A:

You.

Speaker B:

You determin.

Speaker C:

It's going to be a hit based on the trailer.

Speaker A:

That's right.

Speaker A:

I mean, So I thought Ms. Marvel was a hit.

Speaker A:

I think that.

Speaker B:

No, Ms. Marvel, the.

Speaker B:

The series.

Speaker A:

Yeah, Yeah.

Speaker A:

I thought.

Speaker B:

Very good, sir.

Speaker B:

I'm still trying to get through that.

Speaker C:

I don't think anybody.

Speaker C:

There might be people that like her character.

Speaker C:

There might be people who are like, oh, I was entertained by it.

Speaker C:

But I don't think anybody considers that a hit.

Speaker B:

I mean, because the movie, the third.

Speaker B:

The second Captain Marvel movie, which fed into.

Speaker B:

You know, fed into that.

Speaker B:

I'm like, the other way around.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

I'm sorry.

Speaker B:

And it's.

Speaker B:

That wasn't good either, from what I understand.

Speaker A:

Ah, the.

Speaker A:

See, the.

Speaker A:

Marvel's movie was.

Speaker A:

I'm not gonna say his.

Speaker A:

It wasn't bad.

Speaker A:

I think it was convoluted.

Speaker A:

I think it had a whole bunch of.

Speaker A:

In it.

Speaker A:

And they probably put too much in it.

Speaker C:

It was basically them grasping at straws and saying, please, like this character.

Speaker C:

But like, these characters, please, please make these characters matter because we've invested a lot of money in them.

Speaker A:

But the ending made it all worth it to me.

Speaker A:

I was a fan, so.

Speaker A:

But no, the Ms. Marvel series, I thought was really decent.

Speaker A:

Moon Knight.

Speaker A:

I'm going:

Speaker C:

I mean, I'm just saying it ain't ag.

Speaker C:

Correct me if I'm wrong.

Speaker C:

Anything that you say is 50, 50 we can't call a hit.

Speaker B:

No.

Speaker A:

Well, I thought it was good, but I thought it was good.

Speaker B:

5050 Means you tolerated it because it was Marvel.

Speaker A:

No, I think a lot.

Speaker C:

I think most of the stuff, even some of the stuff that he's classifying a hit, I think is, like, he wanted to enjoy them.

Speaker C:

They were still entertaining because, like, I don't think that.

Speaker C:

I truly don't think they've made a whole bunch of stuff that's awful.

Speaker C:

I really don't.

Speaker C:

I don't.

Speaker C:

I'm not a Marvel hater.

Speaker C:

I'm not like, oh, this sucked.

Speaker C:

This is awful.

Speaker C:

But, like, a hit man, like, hit's a hit man.

Speaker B:

You.

Speaker C:

You.

Speaker C:

You know, it's a hit.

Speaker C:

You ain't got a debate a hit.

Speaker C:

You ain't gotta say out loud and try to correct yourself or walk it back that it's a hit.

Speaker C:

It's a hit.

Speaker C:

Other than.

Speaker A:

Other than the Wakanda thing, I think all the animation stuff is a hit.

Speaker A:

That.

Speaker A:

What if was a hit, Marvel Zombies was a hit.

Speaker B:

Or is your definition of a hit what you feel about it?

Speaker A:

I mean, that's the only way I can determine.

Speaker C:

And that's the.

Speaker C:

Therein lies the issue.

Speaker B:

Well, my definition of.

Speaker B:

My definition of a hit is ubiquity.

Speaker B:

Like, everybody likes.

Speaker B:

Liked it.

Speaker B:

Like, but I don't.

Speaker A:

I don't know what everybody.

Speaker C:

The large majority.

Speaker C:

The large majority.

Speaker B:

Where it becomes.

Speaker B:

Where it becomes part of, like, pop culture.

Speaker B:

Like, you can't go anywhere in a certain era, you can't go anywhere without hearing about it or people talking about it, and 25 years later, they're referring to it.

Speaker B:

That's a hit.

Speaker B:

I mean, because it doesn't matter how you feel about it.

Speaker C:

They don't have that many hits.

Speaker B:

No, they don't.

Speaker C:

They've got some entertaining.

Speaker C:

That pastime.

Speaker B:

Oh.

Speaker A:

But all I'm saying is, is it's hard for stuff like that because we know historically some things that sucked at the beginning come back later.

Speaker A:

It was like, oh, man, this.

Speaker A:

This was a.

Speaker A:

Is a classic.

Speaker C:

You can't name anything that.

Speaker C:

That happened to you.

Speaker C:

You can name some stuff that it.

Speaker C:

It's like, oh, that's relevant now.

Speaker C:

Or, oh, I don't see it differently now.

Speaker C:

But you can make a hit in past tense.

Speaker A:

Well, what I'm saying is, I don't know.

Speaker A:

Don't.

Speaker A:

I don't think we've given enough time to do that.

Speaker A:

And I don't have numbers in front of me.

Speaker C:

A time for a hit against.

Speaker C:

The definition of a hit.

Speaker B:

Hit is an instant.

Speaker B:

It happens in real time.

Speaker B:

It's like you go see it and you can't get enough.

Speaker B:

It's like, that's what a hit is.

Speaker C:

Like the whole W Division thing, that has been considered primarily a hit.

Speaker C:

I'll give you that.

Speaker C:

It's a hit.

Speaker C:

The Captain America, Winter Soldier.

Speaker C:

But I'm not gonna argue if somebody says the hit because it's set up.

Speaker C:

What is it set up?

Speaker C:

Important stuff.

Speaker C:

It didn't have terrible reviews.

Speaker A:

Like, that's probably the other thing the Loki series hit.

Speaker A:

That is it never watched it.

Speaker C:

And that's crazy that one of their hits you ain't watched.

Speaker C:

And it's kind of.

Speaker C:

And kind of important to all the stuff going on in the MCU right now.

Speaker A:

Now.

Speaker C:

But.

Speaker C:

Hey, get it.

Speaker C:

But I can't really name a lot of other hits.

Speaker B:

I just.

Speaker A:

I just think.

Speaker A:

I mean.

Speaker A:

But right now, you know, 10 years ago, Avengers, Age of Ultron is not a hit.

Speaker A:

That was a fail.

Speaker C:

It's still not a hit.

Speaker C:

It might be something that you can watch in past tense and go, hey, man, this is better than I thought it was.

Speaker C:

Or, hey, man, this.

Speaker C:

This is relevant to what's going on.

Speaker C:

But don't nobody look at that movie in past tense and go, man, you know what?

Speaker C:

We just missed it.

Speaker C:

This was a hit.

Speaker C:

No, look at things like that.

Speaker A:

Unfortunately, it does have a cult following.

Speaker C:

Now, cult followings ain't a hit.

Speaker C:

CB4 got a cult following.

Speaker C:

Bever Black Hat got a cult following.

Speaker C:

We ain't going to sit here and call them a hit.

Speaker C:

We going to say we like them.

Speaker C:

We f with them.

Speaker C:

But that's not a hit.

Speaker A:

I mean, Ask Journey.

Speaker A:

Don't Stop Believing.

Speaker B:

Wait a minute.

Speaker B:

Back up.

Speaker C:

That's actually it.

Speaker B:

That was a hit the first time.

Speaker B:

That was a hit the first time.

Speaker A:

It was a hit that basically went away and came back 30 years later.

Speaker B:

But no, no, no.

Speaker B:

It was a hit the first time.

Speaker B:

And nothing.

Speaker B:

I was there for that.

Speaker B:

I was there for that.

Speaker B:

Exactly.

Speaker C:

To be hit first.

Speaker B:

Yes.

Speaker C:

And it was.

Speaker B:

Can't be a revival if you just were born.

Speaker C:

I'm telling you, you feel like I'm coming at you and I really don't feel that way know, but what I'm saying, like I feel like you're trying to defend the stance that you don't have to.

Speaker C:

I'm not saying that they've done bad stuff.

Speaker C:

I'm simply saying they don't have.

Speaker C:

You says 50, 50.

Speaker C:

No, they don't have:

Speaker A:

Dis.

Speaker C:

They got maybe 50, 50 things that were good.

Speaker C:

5050 Things that are enjoyable, entertaining, but 50, 50 hits?

Speaker C:

Hell no.

Speaker C:

Cuz if they did have:

Speaker C:

Cuz they, that's a good rate.

Speaker C:

If they were:

Speaker A:

But, but here, this is what I'll say.

Speaker A:

Like I'll say this.

Speaker A:

I like the new Daredevil series, but there are a whole bunch of people who don't like the new Daredevil series because they like the Netflix series better.

Speaker C:

And that is the definition of a hit.

Speaker C:

The first one was a hit.

Speaker B:

Correct.

Speaker C:

Which is why they tried to revive it.

Speaker A:

But they're still making them.

Speaker A:

But they're still making them.

Speaker A:

They haven't stopped.

Speaker A:

They got another season coming out next year and they're gonna have another season after that.

Speaker A:

I'm just saying.

Speaker C:

You're basically saying releasing it means it's a hit because that's.

Speaker C:

Now you're changing your definition.

Speaker C:

No, no, what I'm saying, like I was just saying, I guess they got more misses than hit points.

Speaker A:

Well, I think everybody does to a point.

Speaker A:

You said 50 50.

Speaker A:

I think it's fifth.

Speaker A:

I think it's 50 50.

Speaker A:

My opinion is 50 50.

Speaker A:

That's just my opinion.

Speaker A:

Now, of course, once again, if they actually put out numbers, which they don't, we would know more.

Speaker A:

But they don't put out numbers for, for Disney plus and stuff like that.

Speaker C:

It's called viewership and streams.

Speaker C:

They absolutely have that.

Speaker A:

They do not put out the, they do not put those numbers out.

Speaker A:

I'll look at, I look for it right now.

Speaker C:

No, no, they're not going to tell you but they're going to say this did more streams than this.

Speaker C:

This didn't.

Speaker C:

So yeah, you're not gonna have a number.

Speaker A:

Well, but so.

Speaker A:

Huh.

Speaker A:

What?

Speaker A:

So I'm supposed to basically now go with what they're saying.

Speaker C:

That's what a hit is, Reuben, A hit is something.

Speaker A:

No, no, it's not personally saying was popular, but we see.

Speaker A:

I guess in your Universe, you could say that in your world.

Speaker A:

Yes.

Speaker A:

My thing is, in my world, I can't.

Speaker A:

I mean, because there's some things I don't like and there's some things that y' all like Loki, you.

Speaker A:

You say it's the greatest ever, but.

Speaker C:

You know, I don't ask you what you like because there are hits that I don't like either.

Speaker C:

But I'm not gonna not acknowledge that they were a hit.

Speaker A:

Hit.

Speaker A:

But I can't tell you.

Speaker A:

But I can't tell you that Loki's a hit.

Speaker A:

Like, how can I tell you that they came out with two seasons?

Speaker A:

Like, I. I can't tell you that.

Speaker A:

Cuz I don't necessarily have an opinion and I don't have any hard facts to tell me differently.

Speaker C:

Okay.

Speaker A:

I mean, tell me I'm wrong.

Speaker C:

Like, for real, man.

Speaker C:

I've been trying to establish that you're.

Speaker C:

Your view is changing with the argument and I've been doing it very unsuccessfully.

Speaker C:

So I will simply say, okay, I do that.

Speaker C:

But I started by saying I don't necessarily disagree with your take.

Speaker C:

I'm simply saying they don't have a 50, 50 take rate based on like popular consensus of what a hit is.

Speaker C:

I get it.

Speaker C:

Maybe that's not your consensus of a hit.

Speaker C:

And that's why I'll say, okay, that's fair.

Speaker A:

I guess what I'm saying is where do you get your consensus of a hit from?

Speaker A:

Because we don't have numbers, so we just going by Rotten Tomatoes now.

Speaker A:

If that's the case, then that's the case.

Speaker C:

You're right, man.

Speaker A:

No, I'm just being honest because I don't read that stuff.

Speaker A:

So I don't know.

Speaker A:

The only time I hear opinions are from like my friends.

Speaker A:

I don't go and read.

Speaker A:

I don't read like any of that stuff.

Speaker A:

I just don't.

Speaker A:

I never do.

Speaker A:

Because if I did, I probably wouldn't watch half the I watch.

Speaker A:

And that's.

Speaker A:

And that's all I'm saying.

Speaker A:

Right, like you're saying is a hit.

Speaker A:

Okay, where do you get that information from?

Speaker C:

I mean, is it.

Speaker A:

Is that personal information?

Speaker A:

Cool.

Speaker A:

But if you say, yeah, Rotten Tomatoes says that, boom, boom, boom, at least I can at least go look.

Speaker C:

But Loki.

Speaker C:

Loki holds the record for highest viewership and watched among live action MCU shows dared never born again.

Speaker C:

Season 2 is ranked as among the second highest.

Speaker C:

They actually have these.

Speaker C:

It's actually there.

Speaker A:

Where?

Speaker A:

Just tell me where.

Speaker C:

I mean, I'm literally just looking at the AI and it popped up On IGN has it.

Speaker C:

Um, Yahoo has it.

Speaker C:

It's literally right there.

Speaker C:

And I didn't want to have to look.

Speaker C:

Well, no, I wasn't trying to base it on that.

Speaker C:

I'm like, hey, man, popular consensus is popular consensus.

Speaker C:

I wasn't saying Rotten Tomatoes.

Speaker C:

I'm simply saying, yes, they do not put a specific number.

Speaker C:

They're not going to say this number of people streamed it.

Speaker C:

But they will say, hey, because Netflix can release stuff, hey, this was the most viewed thing.

Speaker C:

Or Disney, hey, this is the most viewed we had.

Speaker A:

And that's really all I was asking for.

Speaker A:

Because once again, I don't look at any of that.

Speaker A:

And I mean, so there.

Speaker C:

I would like to point out that I stated that same fact earlier in this conversation and then you asked me to give specific examples.

Speaker C:

So it's not like, it's not like I. I was.

Speaker C:

I wasn't trying to get here.

Speaker C:

I was.

Speaker C:

I was really simply saying, man, like a point that you made about it being 50.

Speaker C:

50 Is your opinion.

Speaker C:

But that's not how hits are measured.

Speaker C:

They're not measured based on an individual person's opinion.

Speaker C:

It's based on the popular mass opinion of it.

Speaker A:

Correct.

Speaker A:

But my question was, since I don't delve into any of this, that how would I know the massive opinion of it without dollar amounts like movies or.

Speaker A:

Because I just don't know that.

Speaker A:

Because I don't delve into any of that.

Speaker A:

That's.

Speaker A:

That's what I'm asking.

Speaker A:

That was my whole opinion.

Speaker A:

You know, I'm not trying to be difficult.

Speaker A:

I'm just like, yeah, I don't think you're difficult.

Speaker C:

I think.

Speaker C:

I think you were trying to hold on to your opinion and I was trying to take that out.

Speaker A:

I guess what I'm saying is, how can you say it's the best?

Speaker A:

My.

Speaker A:

My question was more or less, how can you say it the best without numbers stating that?

Speaker A:

And I was asking where the numbers coming from.

Speaker A:

Because like you said, like you said, you said Loki was one of the best things in my opinion.

Speaker A:

I don't know know because I didn't watch it.

Speaker A:

So how would I know that it is one of the best things.

Speaker C:

I love that you just brought that up because you just said Vision Quest is going to be a hit and you ain't seen it.

Speaker A:

But that's my opinion.

Speaker A:

That's 100 my opinion.

Speaker A:

You're right, because the other two were great.

Speaker A:

In my opinion.

Speaker A:

They were great because you asked me what did I think were hit.

Speaker C:

You were basing your hit on opinion.

Speaker C:

So you don't really care about the actual information.

Speaker A:

But you were coming at me, basically saying.

Speaker C:

I just said I was trying not to.

Speaker C:

And then he said I wasn't coming at him.

Speaker C:

And now he brings it back to, you were coming at me, but you.

Speaker A:

Sat here, told me some of the stuff that I thought were hits were not.

Speaker C:

And Reuben, that is why 10 minutes ago, I said, okay,.

Speaker A:

The point of.

Speaker C:

This is, hey, anybody that listen to this podcast or watch it, I just want y' all to know we actually are really cool.

Speaker B:

Yeah, we are.

Speaker A:

But I'm just like.

Speaker C:

I don't want anybody to think that we don't like each other.

Speaker A:

All I'm saying is.

Speaker A:

All I'm saying is I went based on my opinion, and then you start throwing facts.

Speaker A:

Sex in.

Speaker A:

Like, that's not going to work.

Speaker C:

Dare me.

Speaker A:

Well, that's not gonna work if you're not gonna tell me where the facts come from.

Speaker A:

That's.

Speaker A:

I mean, am I wrong here?

Speaker A:

Ag.

Speaker A:

Tell me I'm wrong.

Speaker C:

Stated you were wrong within this entire argument, and you keep asking me.

Speaker B:

He led with that route.

Speaker B:

He wasn't arguing your argument at all.

Speaker B:

He was just stating to you.

Speaker B:

Actually, I started.

Speaker B:

I stopped.

Speaker B:

But the definition of a hit in general is ubiquity, right?

Speaker B:

It's.

Speaker B:

It's.

Speaker B:

It's pervasiveness.

Speaker B:

It's everywhere.

Speaker B:

You can't go anywhere without hearing about it.

Speaker B:

It doesn't matter if a few people don't like it.

Speaker B:

The masses love it.

Speaker B:

That's generally.

Speaker B:

Generally speaking, that's what the definition of a hit is.

Speaker B:

Is.

Speaker B:

That's all that he was trying to say.

Speaker B:

And he did say he did give you the facts that you were asking for earlier on, like, 20 minutes ago.

Speaker B:

But I don't think that he let you know where it was coming from, which bothered you, in addition to the fact that usually once you lock in on something, that's.

Speaker B:

That's where you are.

Speaker B:

So that's why I stopped that.

Speaker B:

Stopped talking.

Speaker B:

I just started listening.

Speaker B:

So it's like, you're not wrong.

Speaker B:

We weren't trying to make you wrong.

Speaker B:

It was just like.

Speaker B:

We were just.

Speaker A:

I guess.

Speaker A:

I'm not saying that you are.

Speaker B:

Well, you just asked me.

Speaker B:

Tell me I'm wrong.

Speaker B:

Tell me I'm wrong.

Speaker B:

That's what you said.

Speaker B:

And I wasn't trying to tell you anything.

Speaker B:

Nor was Mo.

Speaker B:

All we were trying to say was, first of all, Mo and I were trying to lay the foundation of what a hit was in general.

Speaker B:

It doesn't matter how you Feel about matters that the masses love it.

Speaker B:

Just like when something isn't a hit, the masses don't like it, or they're just like, you know, they don't care.

Speaker B:

So that's all we were trying to say.

Speaker B:

You were coming from, you know, like, you liked it.

Speaker B:

So you thought it was a hit.

Speaker B:

Well, the way you actually expressed it was it was 50 50.

Speaker B:

So to you, it was 50 50.

Speaker B:

And we were like, based on what we're talking about, that can't be true.

Speaker B:

A hit is not 50, 50, 50.

Speaker B:

A hit is like almost indifference.

Speaker B:

It's like, yeah, it's all right, whatever.

Speaker B:

I'll never see it again.

Speaker B:

So that's all we were trying to do.

Speaker B:

No one was wrong.

Speaker A:

Well, and I. I guess that's where.

Speaker A:

So I guess I need to explain myself better.

Speaker B:

Okay.

Speaker B:

I'm curious on what you missed because I thought you explained yourself really well.

Speaker B:

It's just you got locked in and we've been through this so much.

Speaker B:

I already knew what was going to happen.

Speaker A:

Happen.

Speaker A:

I. I guess what.

Speaker A:

I guess what I'll say is I, Reuben, in some respects, really don't care or know what the outside world likes or doesn't like.

Speaker A:

For instance, I don't really listen to terrestrial radio.

Speaker A:

I like what I like, and I don't care what they play on the rail.

Speaker A:

So I couldn't tell you who the hottest dude in hip hop is today because I probably think they suck anyway, so.

Speaker A:

Because they're not what I like.

Speaker A:

So for me, there is, like, the only thing I've heard about Loki is what I get from y'.

Speaker A:

All.

Speaker A:

I just haven't watched it.

Speaker A:

Oh, man, you said it's great.

Speaker A:

Ever.

Speaker A:

I'm gonna take your opinion of that.

Speaker A:

But, like, you know, I can't sit here and say.

Speaker A:

Say, hey, this was number three on whatever, because I just don't look at things like that.

Speaker A:

As far as things like that concerned, I just don't.

Speaker A:

I mean.

Speaker A:

So you're right.

Speaker A:

I probably couldn't tell you.

Speaker A:

I could tell you, in my opinion, what I thought was hot, but I couldn't tell you what really was hot.

Speaker A:

The only reason I know Spider man is hot, because it made $2 billion.

Speaker A:

It must be worth something if it made $2 billion.

Speaker A:

But anything.

Speaker A:

Because I really don't follow streaming stuff as far as numbers and stuff like that.

Speaker A:

I mean, I thought Wonder man was a great show.

Speaker A:

I didn't know that nobody watched it because, honestly, I almost don't care because it doesn't affect what I do.

Speaker A:

On a daily basis.

Speaker B:

But that's, that's kind of the, that's kind of the hitch with you in general.

Speaker B:

General because you can't separate what you like or don't like and how everyone feels about it based on, you know, popularity.

Speaker B:

Like, I didn't.

Speaker B:

I mean, Loki was good, but I thought Loki was a tool.

Speaker B:

It was a tool for me to piece together the mcu.

Speaker B:

But what most said let me know that it was a hit.

Speaker B:

A lot of people watched it.

Speaker B:

So it's just like I can't argue that.

Speaker B:

And I can do both of those things usually.

Speaker B:

Like I said, man, when you get locked in, you.

Speaker B:

I can't talk to you unless I'm agreeing with you.

Speaker B:

So it's just like I can't get you to understand where I'm coming from if you don't agree with me.

Speaker B:

That's kind of why we've spent the last 40 minutes talking about this.

Speaker C:

I like how that time just keeps magnified.

Speaker B:

I mean.

Speaker B:

use it's like, it's like it's:

Speaker B:

And I was like, okay, okay, that's what we're doing.

Speaker B:

Which is fine because we've done it before.

Speaker B:

That's how I knew it was going to happen.

Speaker B:

It's a true story.

Speaker B:

That's how I knew was going to happen.

Speaker B:

Only thing, only thing that I was saying was just like my example.

Speaker B:

For me, Loki was a tool.

Speaker B:

A lot of people really, really liked it.

Speaker B:

And don't get me wrong, it was good, but I wasn't super excited about it.

Speaker B:

But it did help me understand a lot of other things that will happen and happen happened.

Speaker B:

That doesn't mean that it can't be a hit.

Speaker B:

It just means that personally it was all right.

Speaker B:

This is how I saw it, this is how I used it.

Speaker B:

But I didn't feel, I didn't feel the same way the general public felt about it.

Speaker C:

Obviously, because I didn't like W Division.

Speaker C:

I've stated before, I thought it was okay.

Speaker C:

I thought it was good.

Speaker C:

But I know it's a hit.

Speaker C:

Consensus wise, but not my hit.

Speaker C:

It just, it is what it is.

Speaker A:

I mean, and I guess, I mean, if like, honestly I don't.

Speaker A:

I didn't know Loki was a hit.

Speaker A:

If Moby really.

Speaker A:

Because Moby talked about it more than anything.

Speaker A:

As far as what I know.

Speaker A:

Like, it just never.

Speaker A:

I've never wanted to turn to that.

Speaker A:

Not.

Speaker A:

I'm not saying it's trash or anything.

Speaker A:

It's just nothing that I've been interested in.

Speaker A:

But I can't tell you whether it was a hit or not, because the only people who talk about it really is movie that I.

Speaker A:

That I associate with, that I would talk Marvel stuff about.

Speaker A:

So if the rest of the world liked it, I.

Speaker A:

There's no way for me to know because I just don't venture down stuff like that because unfortunate, you know, critics and stuff.

Speaker B:

Okay.

Speaker B:

I mean, okay, man.

Speaker A:

They'd be wrong sometimes.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

So, I mean, so.

Speaker A:

And I thought.

Speaker A:

And.

Speaker A:

And I'll just.

Speaker A:

And I. I thought the.

Speaker A:

The thing was my opinion on what was a hit because that's all I got.

Speaker A:

Like.

Speaker C:

And I'm.

Speaker C:

I did say that.

Speaker C:

I said, hey, these are your hits.

Speaker C:

But I said, the general consensus is these are not hits.

Speaker C:

I said it.

Speaker B:

All the things that you're addressing have been addressed at the beginning of this.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

I mean, that's why a lot of times I tell them, oh, don't do it, man.

Speaker B:

Don't get sucked in.

Speaker B:

Don't do it.

Speaker B:

Because a lot of things that you're.

Speaker B:

When you would respond to him, I'm sitting there going, he said that like 10 minutes ago.

Speaker B:

So.

Speaker B:

And then when you like, well, tell me I'm wrong.

Speaker B:

And then you're like, well, it wasn't about attacking you.

Speaker B:

It wasn't about, you know.

Speaker A:

And I didn't think it was.

Speaker A:

I honestly, I didn't think it was.

Speaker B:

I hear what you're saying, but.

Speaker B:

But, man, on the other side of you, it feels like you thought you were being attacked.

Speaker B:

And that's not what was happening at all.

Speaker B:

That's why most said it three different times.

Speaker B:

And so that's all I'm saying, man.

Speaker B:

It's just like, you were right what you said.

Speaker B:

Absolutely.

Speaker B:

The only thing I was.

Speaker B:

That we were saying, actually, most.

Speaker B:

That I was listening was the fact that it's like, okay, two things can be true at the same time.

Speaker B:

You cannot like something that's amazing to the rest of the world.

Speaker B:

World.

Speaker B:

It's not amazing to you, but it doesn't mean that either one of them is wrong.

Speaker B:

It doesn't mean the general public's wrong.

Speaker B:

It doesn't mean that you're wrong for not liking it and vice versa.

Speaker B:

Because we did this last week.

Speaker B:

Where is a whole bunch of stuff that you were saying that you like and you like?

Speaker B:

After World, this is mine.

Speaker B:

And that's absolutely true.

Speaker B:

There's no arguing that.

Speaker B:

I mean, people will argue because they like to argue about anything, but there's no arguing that in the re.

Speaker B:

In the real world, there's no Arguing, doing that two things can be true at the same time.

Speaker B:

We just have a lot of pro.

Speaker A:

I, I.

Speaker B:

No, I'm gonna say we.

Speaker B:

I'm not gonna speak for Mo.

Speaker B:

For me, I find it difficult to talk to you when we don't agree.

Speaker B:

And it's just like.

Speaker B:

It's like pulling teeth.

Speaker B:

So I give up fast because I don't like to waste my time.

Speaker B:

I understand you well enough to know, like you said, we're going to our seventh year.

Speaker B:

I really understand you in certain ways.

Speaker B:

And so, like, when this started, I knew it was sign.

Speaker B:

And I. I just didn't want to make.

Speaker B:

I.

Speaker B:

What I don't want to do is make you feel like we're attacking you, because a lot of times we're not.

Speaker B:

But it is difficult because once you get locked in, you are locked the F in.

Speaker B:

And that's a true statement whether you like it or not.

Speaker B:

And so I'm like, I'm just listening at this point.

Speaker B:

So you.

Speaker B:

You were.

Speaker B:

You were cool to start with.

Speaker B:

But, you know, he, you know, what Mo was saying was cool.

Speaker B:

What I was saying was cool, too.

Speaker B:

Two things to be sure at the same time.

Speaker A:

Time,.

Speaker B:

If you liked it or didn't like it, that's great.

Speaker B:

But there's another world out there that says the numbers dictate what we're going to do or not going to do.

Speaker B:

And for Loki, it did kind of, well, let's have another season.

Speaker B:

So they did.

Speaker B:

They weren't wrong either.

Speaker B:

So, you know, that's all Mo was saying.

Speaker B:

That's all he was saying.

Speaker B:

At least I believe that to be true.

Speaker B:

Right?

Speaker B:

Is that what you were saying?

Speaker C:

Pretty much.

Speaker C:

Much.

Speaker B:

Okay.

Speaker C:

I mean, like, they, they made decisions based on if it was a hit, if Wonder man would have been a hit, quote unquote, they would have brought.

Speaker B:

It back by ratings, like you said.

Speaker C:

About it, because they were like, hey, cuz, it was getting such good critically acclaim.

Speaker C:

And I think somebody in corporate looked and said, hey, man, yeah, yeah, a lot of people liked it, but anybody watch it for real?

Speaker C:

So we ain't about to invest this money in it.

Speaker B:

Exactly.

Speaker B:

And that's a real.

Speaker B:

That's the real thing.

Speaker B:

Like, y' all tell me all the time on this show, it's a business decision.

Speaker B:

And they made one.

Speaker B:

And I. I was surprised because I hadn't heard a bad review yet.

Speaker B:

Still happened.

Speaker C:

But they got canceled, like on Rotten Tomatoes and everything, like 97.

Speaker B:

Yeah, that's ridiculous.

Speaker A:

But I, But I also.

Speaker A:

I also blame Disney for that too, because I don't think they promoted it very well.

Speaker B:

I don't know, man.

Speaker C:

I didn't go back to my first thing where I said, hey, man, when they believe in something, they drop it.

Speaker C:

Something differently, man.

Speaker A:

I guess.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

I mean, it makes sense, but.

Speaker B:

Are you okay, Ruben?

Speaker B:

That's the real question now.

Speaker B:

Are you all right?

Speaker A:

You good?

Speaker A:

Yeah, I'm good.

Speaker A:

Look, man, like, I. I learned from this when we had our thing months ago.

Speaker A:

Like, I'm.

Speaker A:

I'm very good.

Speaker B:

Okay.

Speaker A:

I'm not, like, all emotional, like.

Speaker A:

Like, torn up or nothing.

Speaker B:

Nah, just checking on you, making sure you're okay.

Speaker A:

N. I'm past that, bro.

Speaker C:

I mean, and for the record, we kind of talk like this all the time.

Speaker A:

I mean, kind of.

Speaker B:

I understand that, too, but at the same time, from my experience, I just want to make sure he's okay because I don't want him thinking that this was, like, Reuben stupid, y' all crazy.

Speaker B:

Whatever.

Speaker B:

No, that's not what this was.

Speaker B:

But again, it's still the same show.

Speaker B:

You know?

Speaker B:

Maybe.

Speaker B:

Maybe it's in a different venue, but it's still the same show.

Speaker B:

And I'm like, so.

Speaker B:

But anyway, that doesn't matter.

Speaker B:

It matters.

Speaker B:

If you're okay, then you're okay.

Speaker B:

You're the boss.

Speaker B:

If you're the boss is good, Then we're all good.

Speaker A:

You good?

Speaker A:

I'm.

Speaker A:

I'm very good.

Speaker B:

Okay, so we're doing.

Speaker A:

I will say this, though.

Speaker A:

They show Top Gun, Maverick way too much on television.

Speaker A:

That shit's everywhere every time I turn channel.

Speaker A:

That shit's on cable.

Speaker A:

It's on usa.

Speaker C:

I've never seen it.

Speaker B:

Oh, I thought it was just on Paramount plus.

Speaker A:

Amazing.

Speaker A:

Paramount plus.

Speaker A:

It's on Paramount.

Speaker A:

It.

Speaker A:

That shit's everywhere.

Speaker C:

Like, I mean, have y' all both.

Speaker C:

I guess y' all both seen it?

Speaker C:

Is it good?

Speaker B:

I thought so.

Speaker C:

Okay.

Speaker C:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

But then if you.

Speaker B:

If you.

Speaker B:

I will preface it with.

Speaker B:

With a couple things.

Speaker C:

Things.

Speaker B:

If you're.

Speaker B:

If you are right leaning.

Speaker B:

It's amazing.

Speaker B:

If you.

Speaker B:

If you are a top.

Speaker B:

If you like action movies, it's amazing.

Speaker B:

If you are not those things, you don't need to see it.

Speaker B:

It's fine.

Speaker A:

The right Lane thing is interesting.

Speaker B:

Oh, man.

Speaker A:

I completely, like, ignored all that, which I probably did.

Speaker B:

Listen, well, it has a lot to do.

Speaker B:

Do with what I'm gonna say, with what's on my mind.

Speaker C:

Or that, too, just in fairness, with enough good action.

Speaker C:

Once again, I've said on record, they're like, hey, man, I. I'm not a fan of racism, but if your racism is funny.

Speaker B:

But that's, that's not, that's not where I'm.

Speaker B:

What I'm actually saying.

Speaker B:

I know it sounded that way.

Speaker C:

Number what I'm saying.

Speaker C:

Like if, if I can ignore some rightly.

Speaker C:

Because like look man, Law and Order.

Speaker C:

Order is a series that for a long time leaned very heavily into the right.

Speaker C:

Didn't stop me from enjoying it.

Speaker C:

Like I was just like, hey man, that, that marathon comes on and I'm right here thinking that Benson and Stable are both terrible people who I just can't stop watching.

Speaker B:

True enough.

Speaker B:

I did it with.

Speaker B:

Was it Blue Bloods?

Speaker B:

Same thing.

Speaker B:

Same thing.

Speaker B:

I'm there for it every Friday night.

Speaker B:

That was like, oh, that was like Maga Central.

Speaker B:

But you know, love that show.

Speaker B:

Love that.

Speaker B:

Saw every episode.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

Now that's, it's interesting how you say it.

Speaker A:

Now I have to go.

Speaker A:

I'm have to look at it differently.

Speaker B:

Like I said before.

Speaker B:

I'm not, I'm not asking you, not asking you to look at it differently.

Speaker B:

No, I'm just saying I'll, I'll explain this.

Speaker B:

When you ask me what's on my mind, I'll explain it.

Speaker A:

Yeah, I just did.

Speaker A:

You know, I could.

Speaker A:

I, I, I think that movie is right.

Speaker A:

I think like you'll probably say a couple things.

Speaker A:

Oh yeah.

Speaker A:

But I completely ignored it because I got caught up in everything else.

Speaker A:

Sure.

Speaker A:

Because I, I think that try to get you, man.

Speaker A:

I mean I didn't see.

Speaker C:

I've been got.

Speaker A:

I still haven't seen the first one.

Speaker B:

You haven't seen Top Gun?

Speaker A:

No, bro.

Speaker B:

You got to see Top Gun first.

Speaker B:

That, that's a must have gun.

Speaker B:

You have to see Top Gun first.

Speaker A:

And see, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm not going to disagree and I'm not going to agree with that.

Speaker A:

I think I saw, I saw Top Gun Maverick because I got sick of turning it when it was on a cable.

Speaker A:

It would always be on and like it what is.

Speaker A:

Let me watch this.

Speaker A:

So I watched it and I was like, it's like a regular Tom Cruise movie.

Speaker A:

Like current Tom Cruise movie.

Speaker A:

It is what it is and blah, blah, blah.

Speaker A:

So I didn't have any.

Speaker A:

I knew some things about Top Gun just because I know some things about Top Gun.

Speaker A:

And Mo.

Speaker B:

He knew things about Tiger because it was a hit.

Speaker C:

I was thinking that too.

Speaker C:

I was like, yeah, because it was a hit.

Speaker B:

That is the definition of a hit, man.

Speaker B:

I had to say it, bro.

Speaker B:

I'm sorry.

Speaker A:

It's okay.

Speaker A:

I still haven't watched the.

Speaker A:

So, like, I mean, I know the dude dies.

Speaker A:

I know they were best friends.

Speaker A:

I know call signs, and I know there's a woman involved.

Speaker A:

That's pretty much it.

Speaker A:

Because, you know, to me, it just.

Speaker C:

Like damn near his whole portfolio.

Speaker B:

100, Actually.

Speaker B:

That's the template for everybody, to be honest.

Speaker C:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

It's all, you know, because I. I think I might have watched like five minutes.

Speaker A:

I was like, this reminds me of Cocktail Click.

Speaker B:

Like, it's a template in which all matching movies are built.

Speaker B:

There aren't a whole lot of.

Speaker B:

Of action movies without the ingredients.

Speaker B:

Y' all just listed, so.

Speaker A:

That's true.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

So I. I will say I was surprisedly impressed.

Speaker A:

I will say that, you know.

Speaker B:

Yeah, it was good.

Speaker C:

That's how, that's how I feel about the first one.

Speaker C:

Like, I'm just like, you know, not a big time Cruise fan, but like, hey, first mov.

Speaker A:

If you like the first one, the word on street is you'll like the second one 100%.

Speaker A:

You'll probably think the second one's better.

Speaker B:

And this is like.

Speaker B:

This is like 40, almost 40 years apart.

Speaker B:

It's like.

Speaker A:

Yeah, I will give them credit.

Speaker B:

The plane shits much better in this one than the other one.

Speaker B:

Oh.

Speaker A:

Oh.

Speaker A:

Pretty sure.

Speaker A:

I bet when that was like the 85 or something.

Speaker A:

Oh, that was probably horrible back then.

Speaker B:

Well, they gave a nod to 85 at the end.

Speaker A:

Yeah, that.

Speaker C:

Man, that was 85.

Speaker A:

I'm pretty sure those scenes were not.

Speaker B:

Good, but they were, they were.

Speaker A:

They were as far as like the flight simulated.

Speaker C:

You're thinking about it with your 20, 26 eyes.

Speaker C:

Back.

Speaker C:

Back in 80.

Speaker B:

Exactly.

Speaker B:

Because in:

Speaker C:

She was crazy good back.

Speaker A:

Oh, man, I don't know if I. I don't know if I can go back on this one.

Speaker B:

Okay.

Speaker B:

Yeah, I'm just letting you know.

Speaker C:

You know what?

Speaker C:

You probably can't because you watched it in reverse.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

You.

Speaker C:

You saw the up to date now, like, hey, man, it's like watching the NBA game today versus watching it in the 80s.

Speaker C:

This looked grainy.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker C:

Colors faded.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker C:

It's like.

Speaker C:

But back in the day, this was live action.

Speaker C:

We was like, this is awesome.

Speaker B:

I don't even know if Reuben could get past a motorcycle.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

I don't think you'll need to watch.

Speaker B:

You right.

Speaker B:

Because he had a:

Speaker A:

Was that the same one he was riding in the second movie?

Speaker A:

Was it?

Speaker B:

I thought he had an updated one.

Speaker C:

I think it was the same one.

Speaker B:

Now it would make sense.

Speaker B:

It would make sense.

Speaker A:

The second one.

Speaker B:

Well, if it was a:

Speaker B:

It's just like I said before.

Speaker B:

It's just like everything is the same way.

Speaker B:

Except it was old.

Speaker B:

The old.

Speaker A:

But the ninjas, they didn't change a lot, did they?

Speaker A:

Look.

Speaker B:

Oh, man, they changed, man.

Speaker B:

Listen, only thing I'm saying is, in my opinion, opinion, like you said about yourself, you don't need to watch it.

Speaker B:

Let it go.

Speaker B:

You grown, do what you want to do.

Speaker A:

I probably won't watch it.

Speaker B:

And that's great with me, sir.

Speaker A:

That's just watching like Roadhouse now and Roadhouse then.

Speaker A:

I've watched the older house.

Speaker C:

I think that is a very accurate thing.

Speaker C:

If you watch the.

Speaker C:

If you watch the new one first,.

Speaker A:

Don't watch the old one.

Speaker B:

Don't do it.

Speaker A:

Oh, God.

Speaker A:

I've watched the old one.

Speaker A:

I watched the old one first and I didn't think that was that great.

Speaker A:

Even though everybody loved Patrick Sway.

Speaker C:

Exactly.

Speaker C:

The movie wasn't that great.

Speaker C:

Everybody just likes Wy.

Speaker A:

But the new one was actually better to a point.

Speaker A:

I guess.

Speaker C:

Again, I get it.

Speaker C:

But that's.

Speaker C:

I think, I think cinematography wise and generally like viewing wise, that's how you're going to feel about everything that's new and were.

Speaker A:

Even.

Speaker C:

Even if we.

Speaker C:

You can put aside the fact that.

Speaker C:

Hey, man, maybe I thought the original plot storyline was better.

Speaker C:

If you see the new one first, it's hard to go back.

Speaker A:

Well, I saw the old one first.

Speaker A:

I just thought the new one, which.

Speaker A:

But I think because you didn't think the old.

Speaker C:

If you thought the old one was good, you'd have a little bit of that nostalgia in you.

Speaker C:

And you know, that makes everything better.

Speaker A:

I mean, that movie remind me like a dolomite movie, bro.

Speaker A:

Like, he missed punches like, what are we doing?

Speaker A:

I can't.

Speaker A:

Like, I'm watching it.

Speaker A:

I'm watching it back in the day.

Speaker A:

I'm like, this dude clearly missed that kick.

Speaker A:

And I'm just like, oh God.

Speaker A:

Dylanite miss kicks, but nobody say anything.

Speaker A:

The only difference, the only difference was it was a white dude and you didn't see the boomer mic.

Speaker C:

Like, I mean, I know we've gone down a rabbit hole, but every time I watched the old Roadhouse, I just kept thinking, this got a whole bunch of money and goons.

Speaker C:

Why don't they just go shoot this?

Speaker A:

Exactly, exactly.

Speaker C:

Like, why are we still trying to have a Fight with this.

Speaker B:

Like, just go shoot him.

Speaker A:

Yeah, like, what are we doing?

Speaker A:

It's.

Speaker C:

But I get it.

Speaker C:

That's not a good plot line.

Speaker B:

Line.

Speaker C:

But it's like you already showed that he don't have a problem having people shot.

Speaker C:

So I mean, why he don't want to shoot this guy?

Speaker A:

I mean, him and you know.

Speaker A:

You gonna let Kung Fu Jimmy keep with you?

Speaker A:

Like, what are we doing?

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

I will say this.

Speaker A:

The story in the new one's better too.

Speaker A:

Like, ah, yeah, I'm sorry.

Speaker A:

I apologize.

Speaker C:

Once again.

Speaker C:

It was a good.

Speaker A:

It was a good movie.

Speaker C:

You don't have any nostalgia about the first one, so that's not a good example.

Speaker A:

Simple.

Speaker A:

If you've never seen it, don't do it.

Speaker C:

If you had good feelings about the original, you would look at it differently.

Speaker A:

I don't know how you have good feelings about the original unless you like Patrick Swayze.

Speaker C:

I promise you, somebody does.

Speaker C:

There's at least one person out there that's like.

Speaker B:

And he's on this show.

Speaker C:

They remade a classic.

Speaker A:

Oh, you love the first Point Break.

Speaker B:

But again, the, the.

Speaker B:

Oh, they have another Point Break.

Speaker A:

Oh, yeah, they do, unfortunately.

Speaker A:

I'm sorry.

Speaker A:

I see.

Speaker A:

But that's just.

Speaker A:

That's just terrible though.

Speaker A:

That's just.

Speaker B:

I mean, but for me, when I saw Roadhouse and I did see it in the movies, I thought it was.

Speaker C:

Amazing because you and you were in the time.

Speaker B:

Absolutely.

Speaker C:

I will say I watched Roadhouse way late, you know what I'm saying?

Speaker C:

So I watched it, man.

Speaker C:

I probably saw the original Roadhouse for the first time.

Speaker C:

I can tell you exactly when I saw for the first time, because I was watching Family Guy and Peter Griffith did a skit where he kept saying Roadhouse.

Speaker C:

And they were just like, yeah, it's based on the Patrick Swayze movie.

Speaker C:

So I literally watched the movie just because I wanted to see what Peter Griffin was making this Roadhouse reference for.

Speaker C:

And I was really upset.

Speaker A:

I did.

Speaker C:

That was like 15 years ago.

Speaker C:

That was the first time I saw Roadhouse, like 15 years ago.

Speaker C:

That is not like in:

Speaker A:

Nah, I watched it.

Speaker A:

I watched it back in the day.

Speaker A:

I watched it back in the day and it wasn't for me.

Speaker C:

We'll say that they're lucky I knew who Swayze was.

Speaker C:

You know what I'm saying?

Speaker C:

Like, just cuz.

Speaker B:

What about Dirty Dancing?

Speaker B:

You know, Sway from that?

Speaker C:

Once again, that's why I know him.

Speaker C:

I know him from Dirty Dancing and what, Ghost?

Speaker B:

Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Speaker C:

You asked me to name any other movie he's ever been a part of.

Speaker B:

Oh, the Outsiders.

Speaker B:

You never seen Outsiders?

Speaker A:

Yeah, he was an outsider.

Speaker B:

Good, man.

Speaker B:

I only.

Speaker B:

I. I could only watch it one time.

Speaker B:

It was so good, though.

Speaker C:

I don't think it might be good.

Speaker C:

I just.

Speaker B:

Yeah, he was in a movie called Next to Ken.

Speaker B:

That was super good too, bro.

Speaker B:

I was.

Speaker A:

Yo, I didn't see that one.

Speaker C:

If it was a Dirty Dancing, a.

Speaker A:

Ghost, which was really good in both.

Speaker C:

Of them, he don't exist to me.

Speaker A:

I mean, he was good in both of them, too.

Speaker B:

He was.

Speaker C:

I mean.

Speaker C:

Okay, okay, Ruben, calm down, buddy.

Speaker C:

Calm down.

Speaker A:

Oh, player.

Speaker A:

And I said, patrick swings out here.

Speaker C:

Was like, no, no, no, no.

Speaker A:

The greatest ever.

Speaker C:

Here's why I'm gonna say calm down.

Speaker C:

Like in Dirty Dancing.

Speaker A:

What.

Speaker C:

What real acting chops did that really show?

Speaker C:

Hey, man, he kept saying, baby, nobody.

Speaker A:

Puts baby in a corner.

Speaker A:

Baby, nobody puts baby in the corner.

Speaker B:

Okay, I hear what you're saying, but in a movie like that, do you have to have chops, though?

Speaker A:

He.

Speaker C:

He played the character that he was given.

Speaker C:

I'm just saying, I don't necessarily say,.

Speaker B:

You know, he was good in both.

Speaker C:

I'm like, hey, man, as long as he had a six pack and had the right look back then, I don't know, man.

Speaker C:

I don't think he could have really effed that one up, you know?

Speaker C:

Hey, wrong.

Speaker B:

You know, man, I was watching the movie like I said last week.

Speaker B:

It's like I watch movies in a vacuum.

Speaker B:

It's just like, I.

Speaker B:

Look, I understand what we're doing because.

Speaker C:

You were there, there, and.

Speaker C:

And that's what I said.

Speaker C:

That's.

Speaker B:

That's what I do now.

Speaker B:

It's just like when I'm watching a romcom.

Speaker B:

I know what this is.

Speaker C:

Hey, but here's the thing.

Speaker C:

I literally said the exact same thing about my view and thing last week when I was talking about the John.

Speaker C:

Claude Van Damme.

Speaker C:

Yes.

Speaker C:

Boy, new movies.

Speaker C:

Come on.

Speaker C:

I'm in, right?

Speaker B:

And I can tell that you're in it because you're not critiquing it.

Speaker B:

You're just saying you're locked in.

Speaker B:

You're not critiquing this.

Speaker B:

It.

Speaker B:

Hey, come on, man.

Speaker A:

At least you understand that they're awful.

Speaker C:

No, it's the nostalgia because they're not awful to me and I.

Speaker C:

You.

Speaker C:

You will not talk about kickboxing like that, bro.

Speaker B:

Oh, no, man, I don't.

Speaker A:

I can't say they're awful.

Speaker B:

I can say they are action movies.

Speaker B:

They had a goal.

Speaker B:

They achieved the goal.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker C:

You will not tell me Double Impact.

Speaker C:

Look, man, he was masterful as playing both brothers, man.

Speaker B:

I love that movie.

Speaker B:

I love that movie.

Speaker A:

Wasn't that the one with Dennis Rodman in it?

Speaker B:

No, no, wait a minute.

Speaker B:

He did make it.

Speaker B:

I think that.

Speaker B:

I think he's right.

Speaker B:

Oh, I think he's right.

Speaker A:

Oh, that movie was horrible.

Speaker C:

It wasn't horrible.

Speaker B:

It was what it was, man.

Speaker B:

Ah, now, I will say.

Speaker B:

Now, take it easy.

Speaker B:

A movie that was actually bad was Last Action Hero.

Speaker B:

Now, that movie.

Speaker B:

Movie was actually bad.

Speaker C:

I will not disagree with you on that.

Speaker B:

That wasn't.

Speaker B:

That wasn't me not understanding the genre or whatever it was.

Speaker B:

That movie was actually bad.

Speaker B:

Double Impact was good with respect to what it was.

Speaker B:

That's why I trip out when people critique stuff, because I can always tell when they ain't like it.

Speaker B:

It's like you start.

Speaker B:

You start nitpicking at it, and it's just like, bro, I know you ain't.

Speaker A:

Like last week, man, y' all.

Speaker A:

Both y' all said y' all like Time Cop.

Speaker A:

That was so good.

Speaker A:

Oh, you didn't like Time Cop so bad?

Speaker A:

That is.

Speaker A:

Oh, my God.

Speaker C:

Thank God.

Speaker A:

Hold on.

Speaker C:

How dare you.

Speaker C:

I was like, hold on.

Speaker C:

I'm trying to remember, because you said that was the one with Dennis Rodman.

Speaker C:

And I kept thinking, yeah, John Claude Van Damme was.

Speaker C:

No, it was double team.

Speaker C:

That they were in different movies.

Speaker C:

How about I said, Come on, man.

Speaker C:

Don't do.

Speaker C:

Don't do that to me.

Speaker C:

Don't.

Speaker C:

Don't.

Speaker B:

I mean, either way, I've never seen a Van Damme movie that I didn't like.

Speaker A:

Oh, God damn it.

Speaker A:

Like, Time Cop was so bad.

Speaker B:

Time Cop was not bad.

Speaker B:

Oh, you might not have liked it, but it wasn't a bad film.

Speaker A:

Hold on, man.

Speaker A:

Y' all one person on this place called Demolition man bad.

Speaker A:

And you're not gonna sit here and.

Speaker B:

Tell me I like Demolition.

Speaker A:

I like Demolition man, too.

Speaker A:

And it's better than Time Cop by far.

Speaker C:

I'm gonna disagree with you wholeheartedly on that.

Speaker B:

They're the same thing.

Speaker B:

Okay.

Speaker A:

My head hurts.

Speaker B:

Your head hurts?

Speaker B:

That's cute.

Speaker C:

I'm simply saying, man, like, you're not gonna be talking mad about my boy John Clap, Man.

Speaker C:

Dad, man.

Speaker C:

You're not.

Speaker C:

You're not.

Speaker A:

I will say I think he.

Speaker B:

I think he is on the list of.

Speaker B:

Of people black folks don't play about.

Speaker B:

I really believe that.

Speaker C:

I mean, the man was in Crush Groove, man.

Speaker C:

He was in crush 100%.

Speaker B:

I didn't even know until last week.

Speaker B:

100.

Speaker A:

Just because he was at Crush Crew, we have to like all the he's in after that.

Speaker B:

He is a white man.

Speaker B:

Black people don't play about.

Speaker B:

I keep telling you, and I'm telling.

Speaker C:

You, don't nobody give a shimmy a shoulder shimmy like to my man John Club, man.

Speaker C:

Damn, man, he is in it.

Speaker C:

And he do a clap that don't be nowhere close to the beat.

Speaker A:

Damn it.

Speaker B:

Is he wrong, though?

Speaker B:

Is he wrong?

Speaker B:

Exactly.

Speaker B:

I think you had that to say.

Speaker B:

I ain't think you had that to say.

Speaker C:

Like, four movies, man.

Speaker A:

Oh, my God.

Speaker A:

Stop it.

Speaker B:

Hey, I said.

Speaker B:

I asked you a question.

Speaker B:

Is he wrong, though?

Speaker A:

Don't make me remember.

Speaker B:

It don't matter.

Speaker A:

You only.

Speaker B:

Hey, but is he wrong, though?

Speaker A:

I.

Speaker A:

He's not.

Speaker B:

That's all I need to hear from you.

Speaker A:

Make this good.

Speaker B:

That's all I need to hear from you, sir.

Speaker A:

Come on, man.

Speaker C:

Like I said, the man was in Crush grooving.

Speaker A:

That's that man's claim of goddamn fame.

Speaker B:

No, it's not.

Speaker A:

It has to be.

Speaker B:

90 Of the people in the world did know he was in it until.

Speaker C:

Like two weeks ago.

Speaker C:

Exactly.

Speaker A:

You know, then there's Universal Soldier, then like that.

Speaker A:

It's the same damn movie.

Speaker A:

It's the same dam.

Speaker B:

All movies are the same movie, Ruben.

Speaker C:

But they.

Speaker C:

They still bang.

Speaker A:

Don't know.

Speaker C:

Don't do that.

Speaker A:

God bless.

Speaker C:

I'm just saying, bro, like, hey, you going to leave your JVD slander somewhere else, man?

Speaker A:

God damn it.

Speaker A:

Y' all said Time Cop was.

Speaker A:

Was good.

Speaker B:

Time out was awesome, bro.

Speaker A:

Man, we were.

Speaker B:

We.

Speaker A:

We would definitely agree to disagree on that.

Speaker C:

You said Demolition man was better than Time.

Speaker C:

You are tripping.

Speaker C:

You.

Speaker A:

You are out of your face, ripping.

Speaker A:

Stop it.

Speaker A:

Stop it, sir.

Speaker A:

Stop it.

Speaker C:

If I didn't love you so much, I might have lost a little bit of respect for you.

Speaker A:

Wow.

Speaker A:

Three seashells, baby.

Speaker A:

Three seashells.

Speaker B:

Wow.

Speaker A:

Top that.

Speaker A:

Three seashells.

Speaker A:

What?

Speaker C:

Once again, man, you knock.

Speaker C:

You're right, sir.

Speaker C:

That is your opinion.

Speaker C:

You are perfectly entitled to have it.

Speaker C:

I'm not going to tell you not to be wrong on your show.

Speaker A:

So.

Speaker A:

So let's do this.

Speaker B:

Oh.

Speaker B:

Oh.

Speaker A:

Now it's my show.

Speaker B:

Oh, it's always your show.

Speaker B:

So.

Speaker A:

So, ag.

Speaker A:

You like both?

Speaker A:

Which one was better?

Speaker B:

I thought both of them were good.

Speaker B:

I can't remember which one I thought was better, but I'm certainly not going to blaspheme one for this other.

Speaker B:

I thought they were great.

Speaker C:

That's fair with me.

Speaker A:

I. I'll take a tie.

Speaker A:

We good with that one?

Speaker A:

One, One.

Speaker B:

But if I had to pick one.

Speaker B:

I'm going with Van Damme, though.

Speaker A:

You're stupid.

Speaker B:

No, if I had to pick one.

Speaker B:

If you're going to make me pick, I'm going with Van Dam, man.

Speaker A:

Make you pick.

Speaker B:

Was the.

Speaker C:

Oh, God.

Speaker B:

Come on, man.

Speaker B:

Universal Soldier was good too, man.

Speaker B:

All of them was good.

Speaker A:

We not talking about univers.

Speaker A:

We're not talking about Universal.

Speaker B:

I hear what you're saying.

Speaker B:

I'm just saying there is no bad Van da damn movie.

Speaker B:

Not a one.

Speaker B:

He could have spoke French and I wouldn't even care.

Speaker A:

Oh, my God.

Speaker A:

All right.

Speaker B:

Just saying, bro.

Speaker B:

He.

Speaker B:

That dude.

Speaker C:

I watched Street Fighter and enjoyed it because he was.

Speaker B:

Oh, that's another one.

Speaker B:

That was good.

Speaker B:

You don't.

Speaker B:

Oh, man.

Speaker B:

You brought all the ones.

Speaker A:

It was not.

Speaker B:

Come on, man.

Speaker C:

Oh, come on.

Speaker A:

Stop it.

Speaker B:

You need to.

Speaker B:

You need to develop a little bit more understanding, sir.

Speaker B:

You.

Speaker B:

You have an empathy problem.

Speaker B:

You have sympathy problem.

Speaker A:

That movie was bad.

Speaker B:

That movie was not bad.

Speaker A:

They've only come out with eight more since.

Speaker A:

That's how bad the first one was.

Speaker C:

So.

Speaker C:

Wait a minute.

Speaker C:

So is that your same argument about Fast and Furious series?

Speaker C:

Because they've come out with a lot, that means the original was terrible.

Speaker A:

They all want the same damn movie.

Speaker A:

They've come out.

Speaker B:

They kind of work within leaves.

Speaker B:

Fast cars.

Speaker B:

Fast cars stealing money.

Speaker C:

Those are sequel cars and crime.

Speaker B:

Exactly.

Speaker A:

Sequels.

Speaker A:

Street Fight has been remade, like three times.

Speaker C:

Oh, so.

Speaker C:

So just because they didn't put a new number at the end of it, makes it a different movie.

Speaker C:

The only one that was kind of a different movie, they gave it a different title.

Speaker C:

They said Tokyo Drift.

Speaker C:

Everything else.

Speaker B:

They gave it a number.

Speaker B:

He said Tokyo.

Speaker B:

He right about that.

Speaker A:

He is.

Speaker B:

He's absolutely right about that.

Speaker A:

He is not.

Speaker B:

Come on, man.

Speaker A:

The second one was too fast.

Speaker A:

Too Furious.

Speaker A:

Gave it then was Fast and Furious.

Speaker A:

They took the out and then they did some other after that.

Speaker A:

But their sequels.

Speaker A:

They made the same Street Fighter movie, like three times the same one.

Speaker A:

Because it sucks.

Speaker B:

Ruben.

Speaker A:

And it just came out.

Speaker B:

One Ruben.

Speaker B:

All movies are the same.

Speaker A:

No, they're not.

Speaker A:

They're sequels, okay?

Speaker A:

Like Universal Soldier, Universal Soldier Return.

Speaker A:

Those are two separate movies.

Speaker C:

Movies.

Speaker B:

If you say so, sir.

Speaker B:

I mean, am I wrong?

Speaker B:

You are, but it's okay.

Speaker C:

See, don't do that.

Speaker C:

Don't do that.

Speaker C:

Because if.

Speaker C:

If we say you're wrong now we're coming at you.

Speaker B:

Exactly.

Speaker C:

You set your.

Speaker C:

You set your audience up to do the thing that you're going to accuse them of later.

Speaker C:

So I'm gonna simply bow out and say, sir, you were right.

Speaker A:

I'm just saying it's universal.

Speaker A:

No, you're saying Universal Surgeon Return.

Speaker A:

Those are two separate movies.

Speaker A:

Those are two separate movies.

Speaker A:

I never said they were the same.

Speaker A:

It doesn't matter.

Speaker C:

What wrong on your own podcast.

Speaker B:

Your podcast, man.

Speaker A:

Goddamn time.

Speaker A:

What are you talking about?

Speaker C:

I'm not telling you wrong on your own podcast, man.

Speaker A:

Oh, this something new.

Speaker C:

Holy.

Speaker A:

This is the first time we've done that Growth, man.

Speaker C:

I'm trying to have a little guy.

Speaker C:

I'm not about to tell you wrong on your show, man.

Speaker B:

New for season.

Speaker B:

Season seven.

Speaker B:

Growth.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

Okay.

Speaker B:

October.

Speaker B:

Reuben, this is your show.

Speaker B:

We would never attack you, sir.

Speaker A:

Yeah, nobody's attacking me.

Speaker A:

I just asked to answer to a question.

Speaker B:

We've probably answered it 50 times, but it's okay.

Speaker A:

I mean.

Speaker A:

No, you actually haven't.

Speaker B:

I've already said this, like, three times that I know.

Speaker B:

It's like every movie is the same movie.

Speaker B:

You're.

Speaker B:

You're.

Speaker B:

You're delineating a movie.

Speaker B:

The difference in a movie in the number.

Speaker B:

It was a sequel.

Speaker B:

I was like, that doesn't mean anything.

Speaker B:

It's still this.

Speaker B:

They still run around in fast cars stealing money.

Speaker B:

It's the same film, actually.

Speaker A:

All of them are about stealing money 100%.

Speaker B:

So how are they not the same film?

Speaker A:

The last one wasn't about stealing money.

Speaker B:

I didn't.

Speaker A:

Fast X was not.

Speaker B:

It was.

Speaker B:

Okay, that's good.

Speaker B:

But most of them.

Speaker B:

They are.

Speaker A:

No, they're not okay.

Speaker B:

Last time I saw they.

Speaker A:

They.

Speaker B:

They took the safe right out of the basement, like, with two cars and a chain.

Speaker C:

In committing some form of a crime,.

Speaker A:

That was like not being punished for it.

Speaker C:

That's the basis.

Speaker B:

So.

Speaker B:

So I was writing my assessment then.

Speaker A:

No, which one?

Speaker A:

Which assessment would you like?

Speaker B:

Your doctor of the fast cars and stealing money.

Speaker A:

They stopped that in five.

Speaker A:

Yes, you're right.

Speaker A:

Now.

Speaker A:

Now it's fast cars and solving crimes.

Speaker C:

He's right.

Speaker A:

So, like, whatever, man.

Speaker C:

And doing illegal and not getting punished for it.

Speaker B:

Well, that's.

Speaker B:

That's my.

Speaker B:

That's my.

Speaker B:

That's my.

Speaker C:

Like.

Speaker C:

That's what I said.

Speaker C:

That's why I said, hey, Reuben, you right?

Speaker C:

Technically, it ain't just about selling money, man.

Speaker A:

But they.

Speaker C:

They just doing some illegal.

Speaker C:

But you know they not going to get caught or be punished for.

Speaker A:

Y' all so stupid.

Speaker B:

Why are we stupid.

Speaker B:

I thought that we were having, you know, pretty good conversation.

Speaker A:

We are, we are.

Speaker A:

And then we're not.

Speaker A:

Because.

Speaker A:

Wait a minute.

Speaker B:

I'm just going to let, you know,.

Speaker C:

Man, I'mma feel better about things when we get off because I'm going go watch Crush Grooving so I can see.

Speaker C:

See my man.

Speaker C:

Hit him with the time.

Speaker B:

You know what I think I'm gonna watch?

Speaker B:

I'm.

Speaker B:

I'm gonna watch the.

Speaker B:

I'm gonna watch the first Top Gun is what I'm gonna do.

Speaker A:

I mean, you know what?

Speaker C:

I might even watch Roadhouse and see if I look at it differently now.

Speaker A:

Man, why would you want to do that to yourself?

Speaker C:

Look, man, Swayze was that guy, man.

Speaker C:

Look, say about the original Roadhouse, the one thing that that movie was dripping with, hey, Patrick Swayze has swag for a white dude, man.

Speaker C:

100 Dude carries swag all over that movie.

Speaker C:

Like, to the point where I'm just like, hey, I know the movie ain't really all that great to me, but,.

Speaker A:

Hey, not just to you.

Speaker C:

That man was life goals as far as the swag category, man, like, he.

Speaker C:

He just didn't give two Fs.

Speaker C:

And it was like a aura around him, man.

Speaker C:

And apparently couldn't shoot him because of his ore.

Speaker A:

I mean, all I'm saying is don't do a drinking game.

Speaker A:

How many times Patrick Swayze missed people?

Speaker A:

You be up before the first 20 minutes by the first 20 minutes.

Speaker C:

See, you said he missed.

Speaker C:

You don't understand your naked ass or eyes.

Speaker C:

Just couldn't see that he slapped him.

Speaker A:

With his ore, baby.

Speaker A:

Now, now, Patrick, free that superpowers.

Speaker C:

If your level was higher, you would have understood that, man.

Speaker C:

Those miss kicks was.

Speaker C:

Was just.

Speaker C:

You didn't see his aura's penis coming across that dude's face.

Speaker A:

Damn.

Speaker A:

Why gotta be a penis?

Speaker A:

Jesus Christ.

Speaker C:

Back then, that's what they saw.

Speaker B:

I think his superpower was when he turned down the blonde.

Speaker C:

It's like, exactly.

Speaker C:

I like that.

Speaker B:

Kicked her to the curb.

Speaker B:

That's where a lot of this started, as far as I'm concerned.

Speaker B:

I mean, old girl was trying to make her man jealous, and he was like, whatever.

Speaker B:

But by that time, dude was mad.

Speaker B:

He didn't want to shoot him.

Speaker B:

He wanted to fight him.

Speaker B:

Two karate dudes, he wanted to fight him.

Speaker B:

That's why he didn't get shot, because they wanted to fight him.

Speaker B:

But it was too late because he tore his throat out.

Speaker B:

That was.

Speaker B:

That was harsh.

Speaker C:

Oh, my God, I just remembered that scene.

Speaker B:

Now.

Speaker C:

I think even less of that movie now.

Speaker C:

I don't know why, man.

Speaker B:

I guess, I mean, that was.

Speaker B:

Man, that was.

Speaker B:

That was straight out of Black belt theater, bro.

Speaker C:

It was.

Speaker C:

It was horrible when I think about it now.

Speaker C:

Now I wish I would have saw it when it first came out, cuz my.

Speaker C:

I would have appreciated it back then because I'd be like, man, this just awesome.

Speaker A:

What were you like three?

Speaker C:

Exactly.

Speaker B:

I was appreciated.

Speaker A:

Holy.

Speaker B:

I hope your mama would let you watch that when you was 3.

Speaker B:

Had violence, sex, booty, everything.

Speaker C:

My mom let me go to R rated movies unsupervised, baby.

Speaker A:

Wow.

Speaker C:

These are different times, man.

Speaker C:

Apparently I saw above the Rim when I was like 8 in the movie theater with my cousin, man.

Speaker A:

Wow.

Speaker B:

Okay.

Speaker C:

She just bought the ticket, was like, I'll be back.

Speaker C:

And we didn't see it during the day, we saw it at night.

Speaker C:

You know what I'm saying?

Speaker C:

It was like a Friday night.

Speaker A:

Yeah, Tupac out there shooting people.

Speaker C:

It was just Friday night.

Speaker A:

You got the juice now.

Speaker B:

Well, see, that's a whole another conversation.

Speaker C:

With some grown women behind us who was like, y' all mom just let y' all come in the movie.

Speaker B:

Like we grown.

Speaker C:

What you talking about?

Speaker A:

You should have been like, why you in my business?

Speaker C:

N. I didn't use the word like that at.

Speaker C:

At age.

Speaker B:

I was hoping that you wouldn't.

Speaker C:

I didn't.

Speaker C:

I mean, I might have thought it subconsciously.

Speaker A:

I mean, if you did, I wouldn't have been mad.

Speaker A:

They all up in your business like.

Speaker B:

That, but that don't mean you call them out their names.

Speaker C:

See, here's the thing, because I. I also still live with my mom.

Speaker C:

And I had an innate fear that what if these tell my mom that I was, you know.

Speaker C:

Oh boy.

Speaker C:

Like, cuz, look, I've told you many stories.

Speaker C:

Like most of my childhood was based on self preservation.

Speaker C:

It was like, hey man, like, how does this affect me in the greater scheme of things?

Speaker C:

So like, yeah, she might have been a Ruben, but I'm not about to say that.

Speaker C:

And up my future because you don't tell my mom A man, we good.

Speaker A:

I mean, hey, then you would been right that she was a.

Speaker A:

Because she the through your future that.

Speaker C:

Would have you up like being right and dead.

Speaker C:

Not my.

Speaker C:

Not my speed, man.

Speaker C:

I will be wrong and alive, baby.

Speaker C:

Wrong and alive.

Speaker B:

Wrong and alive.

Speaker B:

And now for a commercial break.

Speaker A:

How you doing?

Speaker A:

This is Reuben from five Minute Warner.

Speaker A:

And I just wanted to sit here and tell you about JTD Creations.

Speaker A:

They're the ones that made our shirts and Even sweatshirts, shirts, they're pretty dope.

Speaker A:

They can put your logo on anything.

Speaker A:

Shirts, jackets, hoodies, even hats.

Speaker A:

They also do Stanley's and all this other stuff.

Speaker A:

Anything you need a logo on, they can put it on.

Speaker A:

They can do it for one or two people, or they could do it for a group.

Speaker A:

It's really up to you.

Speaker A:

Hit them up on JTD Creations on Facebook.

Speaker A:

Once again, that's who 5 Minute Warning uses for all of our apparel.

Speaker A:

And trust me, me, you will not be disappointed.

Speaker A:

Once again, hit up JTD Creations if you need a shirt or you need anything for yourself, a family member or your crew, and let them know that Five Minute Warner sent you.

Speaker A:

Have a great one.

Speaker B:

And back to the show.

Speaker A:

Jesus.

Speaker A:

All right, Ag, what's on your mind, sir?

Speaker B:

Kim Mulkey was, is what's on my mind.

Speaker A:

Oh, for what?

Speaker B:

Let me explain.

Speaker A:

Jeez.

Speaker B:

There was a, a Russian woman that Kim Mulkey was recruiting.

Speaker B:

Meanwhile, a productive Ukrainian woman was already on the LSU team.

Speaker A:

Oh, I think I heard about that.

Speaker B:

Kim Mulkey was like, this is gonna happen.

Speaker B:

You need to get glad about it.

Speaker B:

In fact, I think this, this is a quote.

Speaker B:

Now if y' all can get along, I think this might help stop the war.

Speaker B:

I'm listening to this, thinking to myself.

Speaker C:

Terrible human being.

Speaker C:

We've established that before.

Speaker B:

I hear what you're saying and you're not wrong, but what I'm saying is, and I hear this a lot at work too.

Speaker B:

And I hear this a lot just being in America, or I should say just being in the United States.

Speaker B:

People in the United States are low key warmongers.

Speaker B:

The reason why I feel that we say stuff out our mouth that's completely stupid is because we don't understand what it's like to have missiles blow up our next door neighbor's house.

Speaker B:

We don't understand what it's like to be walking with your girlfriend and then your girlfriend is like, falls dead on the ground from a bullet wound to the head.

Speaker B:

We don't understand what walks.

Speaker B:

War is actually like the last one that was on American soil was all it was 150 years ago.

Speaker B:

And I'm like, we're really arrogant.

Speaker B:

We lack empathy.

Speaker B:

And it's just like you talking to these two women, one of which father is Ukrainian soldier, the other one is from Russia.

Speaker B:

Russia.

Speaker B:

And you expect these women to get along, Somebody about to be dead.

Speaker B:

Depending on what type of women these are, they come from two different sides of a war that's still going on.

Speaker B:

And you Treat it like it ain't nothing.

Speaker B:

Like, they should be able to get over it.

Speaker B:

Which sounds starkly like how people that look like her feel about black people.

Speaker B:

And I'm.

Speaker B:

I'm like, we gotta.

Speaker C:

You can actually say how she feels about black people.

Speaker C:

Even though, yeah, she's got a lot of prominent black players that played for her.

Speaker C:

But, like, yeah, a lot of her openness has suggested that, like, yeah, the niggas that can help me are cool.

Speaker B:

I hear what you're saying.

Speaker B:

But she's still.

Speaker B:

She's still symbolic of a greater group of people.

Speaker B:

But you are right, too.

Speaker B:

She is an awful individual.

Speaker B:

But what I'm actually saying is she takes me to a place and reminds me of a group of people that live in a fantasy world.

Speaker B:

If you don't understand what I mean, listen to our president.

Speaker B:

If you don't understand what you mean, if you listen to our president, listen to Pete Hegseth, listen to any politician out there speak about war and how easily it comes off the tongue.

Speaker B:

All of these people have never shot a gun and have never had to deal with a war being fought in their own backyard.

Speaker B:

It's not a good place.

Speaker B:

And karma is a.

Speaker B:

That's what's on my mind.

Speaker A:

Yeah, the Ukrainian girl left.

Speaker B:

Yeah, she did leave, but she shouldn't have had to leave because Kim Mulkey should have been a better person in saying, okay, this can't happen.

Speaker B:

As much as I want her to talent, I have a woman here that's doing a great job.

Speaker B:

I'm not going to put her in harm's way.

Speaker A:

I think it's the best thing for.

Speaker B:

Okay.

Speaker A:

I mean, and because, I mean, I agree.

Speaker C:

Getting away from Kim Monkey, I think is the best thing for most people.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker C:

Like AG said should come to that.

Speaker A:

You're right.

Speaker A:

You're right.

Speaker A:

But she.

Speaker A:

She falls in that group of people who never should ever win anything else remotely decent in their lifetime.

Speaker B:

But she will.

Speaker B:

I mean, she's got the complexion.

Speaker B:

She's got the complexion, man.

Speaker C:

She will.

Speaker B:

She will.

Speaker B:

Absolutely.

Speaker B:

She's a head coach in a really prominent, very talented program.

Speaker B:

It's almost automatic that eventually she's going to win another one.

Speaker B:

So to say that is ridiculous.

Speaker B:

But like I said, man, it's like only the good die young.

Speaker B:

And there's a reason why that is.

Speaker B:

And all thing I'm saying is I think that people in this country, you might want to wise up as far as how you see the rest of the world and to understand that the rest of the world lives A different life than you do.

Speaker B:

And it's kind of atrocious that you just like flippantly and cavalierly speak about what's really, really difficult for other folks, but you can't get over.

Speaker B:

There's so many things, small things, that you can't get over before you get outraged.

Speaker B:

But you think it's easy for these women to.

Speaker B:

That are.

Speaker B:

That are sworn enemies to get along, really?

Speaker B:

Okay, okay.

Speaker B:

It's.

Speaker B:

It's a problem.

Speaker B:

It's a problem.

Speaker B:

But no, Kim Mul is going to continue to do well no matter what type of person she is, until she doesn't.

Speaker B:

Now, I don't know if that's going to be judgment, like judgment day, but in this country, that woman will do well.

Speaker B:

She white.

Speaker B:

It is what it is.

Speaker A:

I mean, I would.

Speaker A:

I would definitely say she is definitely in the FDB club.

Speaker A:

So, yeah, some.

Speaker A:

Some people just don't need anything ever positive happening to them again.

Speaker A:

So that's the way I feel about it.

Speaker A:

So thank you, Ag.

Speaker A:

God damn, Kimoki.

Speaker A:

Not.

Speaker A:

Not many people raise my blood pressure higher just by the sound of their name.

Speaker A:

Other than her, she's trash.

Speaker A:

Moby, man, what's on your mind?

Speaker C:

Yeah, man, it's getting real close to that time of year where I have to start supporting losers again.

Speaker C:

So, though,.

Speaker B:

Come on, man.

Speaker B:

Y' all got the quarterback.

Speaker A:

Y' all good.

Speaker A:

I love the hat.

Speaker B:

It's gonna be all right.

Speaker A:

Look, man, I just.

Speaker A:

He got Kirk Cousins, though, baby.

Speaker B:

Well, he's the backup.

Speaker A:

Kirk, right?

Speaker A:

Yo, he's a starter.

Speaker C:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

Oh, I thought they were gonna start Mendoza.

Speaker B:

Oh, they let him.

Speaker B:

They let him carry a clipboard until he's ready or whatever.

Speaker B:

Is that what they're doing?

Speaker C:

Yeah, hopefully.

Speaker C:

Hopefully.

Speaker B:

Okay.

Speaker A:

Well, hey, baby, they got a few future.

Speaker C:

Hopefully.

Speaker C:

I mean, we'll see.

Speaker C:

Look, man, I've been.

Speaker C:

I've been doing this long enough to know that I'm not going to be happy with this team ever, because ever loses ever.

Speaker C:

They're going to keep.

Speaker C:

They're going to keep losing that.

Speaker C:

Now, what they might do, they might tease me a little bit.

Speaker C:

They might have some momentum one year, they go tickle his balls, might sneak in the playoffs a little bit, and then they're gonna do something stupid like.

Speaker C:

And I don't mean they as in, like, all the players.

Speaker C:

I don't hate all them as individuals.

Speaker C:

I don't hate any of them.

Speaker C:

I just realize what it is, man, if.

Speaker C:

If you rock this shield with the Raider pirate up there, man.

Speaker C:

Like, are you just ain't Supposed to win no more, man.

Speaker C:

Like, that's.

Speaker C:

That's just what it is.

Speaker C:

And look, man, I'm still gonna be here, you know, man, I got.

Speaker C:

I got terrible loyalty, man.

Speaker C:

I'm terrible loyalty.

Speaker B:

How can loyalty be terrible?

Speaker B:

Because you're using it on the wrong person or entity.

Speaker C:

I mean, loyalty becomes terrible when it's harmful to you.

Speaker C:

Just what it is.

Speaker C:

Look, man, and here's the thing.

Speaker C:

Most fan bases are like that too, man.

Speaker C:

Like, you.

Speaker C:

You're constantly rooting for losers because, like, everybody ain't a winner.

Speaker C:

Like, when you look at all sports, most sports don't have a large group of winners in their.

Speaker C:

In their organ.

Speaker C:

In that group.

Speaker C:

Like, there's only a couple good NBA teams consistently.

Speaker C:

Only a couple baseball teams that are consistently good.

Speaker C:

The NFL's not really that much different.

Speaker C:

Like, so I'm.

Speaker C:

I'm rooting for a consistent loser.

Speaker C:

Like, the last time the Raiders went to a real game that matter mattered, I was in college, though.

Speaker C:

My kids about to be grown, and they've never seen me be happy for the NFL team I root for.

Speaker C:

Do you realize how awful that is?

Speaker C:

It's like, because.

Speaker C:

Because my kids were doing something like, look, man, if.

Speaker C:

If my daughter was like, hey, I love this thing that doesn't bring any positive thing to my life.

Speaker C:

And you just got to understand, I'm gonna love it no matter what.

Speaker A:

What.

Speaker C:

As a dad, I'd be like, the is wrong with you.

Speaker A:

Cowboy fans.

Speaker C:

But here I am as a parent, trying to give them a good example of what not to do, apparently.

Speaker C:

Like, hey, man, be loyal.

Speaker C:

Whether.

Speaker C:

Whether, you know, they do right by you or not.

Speaker C:

You know what I'm saying?

Speaker C:

Like, don't.

Speaker C:

It don't matter.

Speaker C:

Like, they've seen me root for players in other places because I'm happy for them.

Speaker C:

Like, oh, man, I sure hope.

Speaker C:

I sure hope they can go be with a winner now that they're not with us.

Speaker C:

Like, you know how tragic that is as a fan where I'm just like, man, when Carl left, I was just like, man, I hope the Saints do right by him, man.

Speaker C:

Cause he ain't had a chance with us, man.

Speaker C:

Like, I'm sorry.

Speaker C:

Like, Khil Mack, I was like, man, I hope that dude goes win, man, because he.

Speaker C:

He's awesome.

Speaker C:

Like, Max Crosby got traded this summer, and I was happy.

Speaker C:

I was like, man, maybe that dude win somewhere, man.

Speaker C:

He plays really hard, man, and, like, I just want good things to happen for him.

Speaker C:

And then they were like, hey, the trade don't go through.

Speaker C:

And I was just like, damn, dog, my bad.

Speaker C:

Like, I mean, I want you to be on my team because you're.

Speaker C:

You're good.

Speaker C:

But I'm just like, hey, man, I got a whole bunch of years of experience to know that this ain't going to end well for you, man.

Speaker C:

So know you probably better off being somewhere else.

Speaker C:

And I just realized it's a time of year where I just lose all, like, respect for myself as a human being, man.

Speaker C:

Like, I'm just like, why am I rooting for this?

Speaker C:

Like.

Speaker C:

And for a long time, that was Georgia.

Speaker C:

It was like, hey, man, like, I know we ain't gonna do well.

Speaker C:

And then Terry Kirby came and I was like, hey, man, at least I know we're gonna get closer to H choke.

Speaker C:

And then they got so good talent wise.

Speaker C:

I was just like, damn, even Terry Kirby can't this up.

Speaker C:

And then he did.

Speaker C:

But I was like, hey, man, like, I mean, I was happy that Carson back because I was like, hey, man, you know, now you go play with a team where you ain't gonna get carried every week.

Speaker C:

And then he went to Miami and got carried every week.

Speaker C:

So I was like, damn, who has it better than that guy?

Speaker C:

I. I mean, nobody got it better than that guy.

Speaker C:

That dude, ain't nobody played for more talented people around him.

Speaker C:

Carson back, and I will die on that hill.

Speaker C:

No quarterback has had more talent in college than that dude.

Speaker C:

But, yeah, back to what I'm saying.

Speaker C:

Like, it's a miserable time of year for me because it's the time of year where everybody else pretends to have hope about their team, and I just go, go.

Speaker C:

I'm not built like that no more.

Speaker C:

Like, I hope something good happened, but.

Speaker A:

I know it ain't.

Speaker C:

And I'm just, you know, if.

Speaker C:

If we win, we play that thing, we play the Dolphins first.

Speaker C:

And I'm just like, yeah, I should be like, yo, man, they trying to lose, so we good.

Speaker C:

But I'm just like, but we trying to win.

Speaker C:

And that hasn't worked out very well for us in those last 25 something years, like, trying to win.

Speaker A:

We.

Speaker C:

We don't do a good job of that.

Speaker C:

We don't even do a good job of trying to lose.

Speaker A:

Like, ain't been that long, man.

Speaker A:

Has.

Speaker B:

It kind of has.

Speaker C:

ers were in the Super bowl in:

Speaker A:

Playoffs with car once.

Speaker C:

Thank you, once.

Speaker B:

You're not helping, Reuben.

Speaker C:

Yeah, it.

Speaker C:

Once, you know, hey, one out of 25 ain't bad, bro.

Speaker A:

You're not the Cleveland Browns.

Speaker C:

Okay.

Speaker A:

I mean, they're worse.

Speaker C:

So I'm getting pissed on.

Speaker C:

And you like, hey, at least you're not getting on.

Speaker A:

I mean, sometimes you gotta take your win till you get a brother.

Speaker B:

Again, I say you're not helping, sir.

Speaker A:

I think it's fair.

Speaker A:

I'm just saying.

Speaker C:

I mean, look, I'm not saying that nobody has it for worse.

Speaker C:

I'm not.

Speaker C:

I'm not.

Speaker C:

But I can't think of too many people that do.

Speaker C:

As a.

Speaker A:

As an NFL fan, I can name five teams.

Speaker C:

I think you'd be challenged to get past three.

Speaker C:

Think you'd be challenged to get past 3?

Speaker A:

Possibly.

Speaker A:

I. I can't even lie about that.

Speaker C:

I can acknowledge.

Speaker C:

Which some people might be a little bit more miserable.

Speaker B:

Cleveland.

Speaker C:

I give you that.

Speaker A:

Tennessee.

Speaker C:

You know what?

Speaker C:

I can't quite give you Tennessee.

Speaker A:

They won two games last year, bro.

Speaker C:

Yeah, you're talking about one year.

Speaker C:

I'm talking about over the last 25 years.

Speaker A:

They never went nowhere.

Speaker A:

Steve McNair is the last time they went to any super bowl.

Speaker A:

That's like 35 years ago.

Speaker C:

One last time they went to the playoffs.

Speaker C:

You named one year in the last 25 years when the race went to the play,.

Speaker A:

Was it tuck rule:

Speaker C:

That was:

Speaker A:

Oh, sorry, I'm being breaking.

Speaker C:

mean, look, man, that wasn't:

Speaker A:

That was:

Speaker A:

You.

Speaker A:

That was in the playoffs.

Speaker A:

hat was in the playoffs, like:

Speaker C:

It was the year they won the Super Bowl.

Speaker C:

2000.

Speaker A:

Yeah, the Patriots, they won it six times, bro.

Speaker A:

Like.

Speaker B:

No, but that's the first time they went to the super bowl and they played the Rams.

Speaker B:

Right.

Speaker C:

Like I said, I've told.

Speaker C:

I've said it up here before.

Speaker C:

They started the dynasty.

Speaker C:

Yes.

Speaker B:

Yeah, that's.

Speaker B:

That's the one.

Speaker B:

That, that play let them go to the Super Bowl.

Speaker B:

They beat the Rams, and then it was all downhill for everybody else after.

Speaker B:

After that.

Speaker A:

Well, sorry about that.

Speaker C:

It's okay.

Speaker A:

Try to give you some years.

Speaker C:

I remember being on my mom's couch in Portsmouth watching it.

Speaker C:

So I was there in spirit and, And.

Speaker C:

And like, health.

Speaker C:

I don't know if I'll say health, cuz, I mean, feel like I've been dying as a fan ever since.

Speaker B:

Wow.

Speaker C:

But yeah, man, like, it's that time of year where I'm about to just be unreasonable.

Speaker C:

But I'm just a pessimist now, man.

Speaker C:

I hope to be proven wrong every year, and so far, the Raiders keep making me right And I'm pretty sure this year will be the same.

Speaker A:

How many wins this year for the Raiders?

Speaker C:

Not enough.

Speaker C:

And whatever, whatever you want to put at the end of that sentence, you know, not enough for the playoffs, not enough to matter, not enough to make me smile, not enough to make me forget about the last 20 something years of misery.

Speaker A:

Like so, so if they made to the playoffs, you'd be happy?

Speaker C:

No, I'll be less disappointed, but happy.

Speaker B:

You, you should, you should know this, Reuben, because remember how he responded when Georgia won the national championship the first time?

Speaker B:

He almost didn't even say anything about it.

Speaker B:

I was like, bro, what's wrong with you?

Speaker C:

Cuz I ain't know how to act.

Speaker C:

I, I, I've never supported winners in football before, so I didn't know what to do.

Speaker C:

This was all new to me.

Speaker A:

Wow.

Speaker A:

All right.

Speaker B:

He's a damage.

Speaker C:

If, if, if you are used to winning, you know how to act when you win, when you ain't used to winning.

Speaker C:

Sometimes, you know, you deal with it how you deal with it.

Speaker C:

I didn't, I didn't even know how to celebrate.

Speaker C:

I've never been here before.

Speaker C:

This is usually the part where I'm supposed to be hating stuff.

Speaker C:

So like I didn't know what to do.

Speaker A:

From what everybody else was celebrating.

Speaker B:

Well, what about the next season when they went and did the very same thing?

Speaker B:

Your reaction was the same, didn't they?

Speaker C:

Hold on, hold on.

Speaker C:

I'm glad y' all brought that up.

Speaker B:

Okay.

Speaker C:

Cuz I did celebrate that one more.

Speaker C:

I had the flag up in the back.

Speaker C:

I had the stuff like I was, I was better equipped for the second time.

Speaker B:

I, I'll give you better.

Speaker B:

I don't know.

Speaker B:

Yeah, that's all I'll get.

Speaker B:

You were better.

Speaker C:

Second time you were better.

Speaker A:

So, so since you, you forgot how to celebrate for.

Speaker C:

You mean first forgot?

Speaker A:

I mean, you celebrated.

Speaker C:

Don't, don't you got to know how to do something to forget?

Speaker A:

You went back to back.

Speaker A:

If you didn't know after that, man, I can't help you.

Speaker C:

Once again I said I was better at it, but how long ago was that now?

Speaker C:

And we're talking about college, we're talking about a college football team.

Speaker C:

I mean, I didn't really start rooting for college football for real till I was like in high school.

Speaker C:

I've been, been on this losing Raider train since Bo Jackson.

Speaker A:

I mean, I hear you.

Speaker C:

So once again, I got more experience losing than winning.

Speaker A:

I can't help that.

Speaker C:

Well, I'm just saying.

Speaker C:

Hey, man, All I'm saying, a little bit of empathy.

Speaker A:

I. I would rather lose than have the rest take a national championship from you.

Speaker A:

So there's that.

Speaker C:

So they took a national championship from.

Speaker C:

They took one of your national championships that you got to experience and watch as a fan away from you.

Speaker C:

I'm so.

Speaker C:

Because.

Speaker C:

Because as a Raiders fan, I've never actually seen my team win in my life.

Speaker C:

I'm 43.

Speaker C:

I'm 43.

Speaker C:

The last time they won a Super bowl was five months before I was born.

Speaker C:

So you know what I think?

Speaker C:

I. I think it's me.

Speaker A:

I. I've seen my team win three times.

Speaker C:

The birth of me doomed the franchise.

Speaker B:

So you did this, then.

Speaker B:

You did this.

Speaker A:

You're not wrong, man.

Speaker B:

But I have seen.

Speaker B:

I have seen them win three different Super Bowls, sir.

Speaker A:

Me too.

Speaker A:

I've seen my win three different Super Bowls.

Speaker C:

I've not seen my do that.

Speaker A:

I've seen my team win five different national championships.

Speaker B:

We're not talking about you.

Speaker B:

We're talking about him.

Speaker B:

I've seen the Raiders win three different championships.

Speaker A:

We've seen.

Speaker A:

We've seen what you call them.

Speaker A:

Win two.

Speaker A:

Georgia win two.

Speaker A:

Back to back 100%.

Speaker B:

I thought they won, like, I thought they won three all together lately, right?

Speaker A:

Nah, just two.

Speaker B:

Back two.

Speaker B:

Okay.

Speaker A:

They won a couple SEC championships.

Speaker B:

That's probably what it was.

Speaker B:

Okay, so.

Speaker C:

So I'm telling you that I doomed the franchise.

Speaker C:

But it's not the only franchise.

Speaker C:

I do not doomed two in my lifetime.

Speaker B:

Yep.

Speaker A:

Go Hawks.

Speaker C:

No, no, no, no.

Speaker C:

I didn't doom the Hawks.

Speaker C:

They did that to themselves.

Speaker A:

Them.

Speaker C:

I will not take responsibility for them deciding that.

Speaker C:

I won't do that.

Speaker B:

Who's the other?

Speaker C:

It's not even my franchise.

Speaker C:

But, like, so my mom.

Speaker C:

My mom despises the spirit of my dad so much that she made it so that he would never see his favorite player win an NBA championship.

Speaker A:

And he would.

Speaker C:

And that team would never win an NBA championship as long as I'm here.

Speaker C:

And that is the 75 Sixers.

Speaker C:

So Dr. J was my dad's favorite player the last time.

Speaker C:

Day one, an NBA championship.

Speaker A:

83.

Speaker C:

83.

Speaker C:

May 31st.

Speaker B:

Wow.

Speaker A:

Day out.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker C:

And my dad couldn't watch the game.

Speaker C:

I just want you to know.

Speaker C:

Know that's next level.

Speaker C:

Petty Mom.

Speaker C:

Next level right there, baby.

Speaker C:

Like, I probably won't even do for a couple weeks.

Speaker C:

And she was just like, nope, Nope.

Speaker C:

Can't let this see him win.

Speaker A:

Shout out.

Speaker A:

Mose Malone.

Speaker A:

Peg.

Speaker A:

High school.

Speaker B:

What's up?

Speaker C:

And that's the Thing That's.

Speaker C:

That makes it even sweeter.

Speaker C:

Even sweeter.

Speaker C:

Cause Moses Malone called my mom afterwards because my mom and Mose Malone friends from high school.

Speaker C:

So, hey, Mose Malone, quote unquote, honked my dad on that first date.

Speaker C:

And then after the championship game, that my dad did not get to see.

Speaker A:

Mose Malone trying to smash hit my.

Speaker C:

Mom up and was like, hey, man, congrats.

Speaker A:

I just had this baby, so we can't smash.

Speaker A:

But congratulations.

Speaker C:

First of all, I don't.

Speaker C:

Don't do that.

Speaker C:

I don't.

Speaker C:

I will never accuse my mom of doing anything with Mose Malone.

Speaker C:

Don't know.

Speaker C:

Definitely don't care.

Speaker C:

Definitely don't care.

Speaker B:

Boy, this took a turn.

Speaker B:

This took a turn.

Speaker C:

Okay, yeah, definitely do not care there.

Speaker C:

Based on how my mom talks about him.

Speaker C:

Don't think that would have ever happened.

Speaker C:

But hey, none of my business, none of my care, none of my concern.

Speaker C:

Will never give a.

Speaker A:

Not my zoo, not my monkeys.

Speaker C:

Poor LeBron James.

Speaker C:

Because, hey, look, man, I'm still here here.

Speaker C:

Gotta take me out if you're trying to get one with 76, man.

Speaker A:

Wow.

Speaker B:

All right.

Speaker A:

All right.
